• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What do you guys think about this trike?

That sure looks like the same one the Reggy from Tricwing is selling.

http://tricwing.com/

I can tell you that at the drag race trials there was a goldwing that ran 12.99 which was the fastest bike of the night but he didn't race in the actual races.

The website only has the one picture with the words 'Coming Soon...' in black lettering above it on the dark gray background. I can't tell if he's actually selling now or still in preparations.

Yes, it is the same kit that Reggy calls the Tricwing. I did hear about the Tricwing first through my local dealer, he told me the kit came from the Netherlands. Then I saw it on Bikes to Trikes, and had to email Dan. I'm just concerned about the technology. Like if I have to serve suddenly at a high speed, will I lose control? I'm sure it doesn't have stability trac on it. But I like the look, and I was considering it before BRP came out with in in-line three.

There was some discussion about the TricWing in here maybe a Month ago.
Reggy was backing away from production plans... :dontknow:
Personally; I like the styling!
There's just not much else to go on...

There is a artical about this in this months Wing World, mostly saying nasty things about the Spyder in comparison to the "R18" as they are calling it. Little real data on the R18 ability to do anything.
Artical information...Price in artical: "very least $15,000 for kit, $700 for paint, $1,200 to install. and of course you already have a Gold Wing suitable for converison ??
Only five in country with plans to import 100 more ths year. "Service will be easy to find since Honda dealers are everywhere."

I see lots of problems, that rear tire should last about ??? Steering those big front tires at low or even high speed? Yes, there are a lot of Honda Dealers out there, but many will not touch a Wing that has been triked with a proven kit, even with, maintance information available and a kind straight forward design. If I was a dealer, I would NOT touch this front end, with all the problems on known issues, Toe in/out, shock settings and so on. i.e I lost control and wrecked my R18. I am sueing for a million or so.
No thank you.
If I lived next to the only dealer and had a lot of money and something else to ride as well, I might.

Sorry to hear you had one and wrecked it, but at the same time I'm glad to hear you had one and wrecked it, not because I'm sick (well maybe),but because you can speak first hand and say that you can easily lose control. Thanx!

I don't think he meant he had one. He was giving an example of what could happen...

I saw them at Daytona. Initial impressions were positive, but when I started looking closely at the framing hardware for the new front end, I didn't like what I saw. I have no reason to believe there is anything wrong with it's functionality, but it is ugly as can be. All brackets have that squared look to them. It's like it's all function and no form built into it. I've always loved the lines of the Goldwing, especially the GL1800. The kit's frame looks solid, but has no flow to it to make it look like a part of a Goldwing. Pretty boxy in appearance.

A couple years back, I was in the camp that was saying if Honda came out with a factory GW reverse trike, I would probably be one of the first customers. Mostly due to the 1800 cc engine and quieter operation.

:spyder2: has had its downs and ups. Currently seems to be rydeing an uptrend.

The fact that the item is an aftermarket kit, that most Honda dealers won't even touch triked GW's with nationally known and established companies, makes me now change to the "I am very happy with my new 2014 :spyder2:." I even saved about $10K in the process.

Also, the fact that the US dealer made statements to the effect that they were running into problems and they would not sell machines until all the glitches were solved, give me a little pause.

An interesting situation. Hoping the best for the US dealer/distributor. Like the original :ani29:'s, they are not going to be for everyone.

For me, aside from any cost considerations, or even the question of which is a better machine to ride, this would be an maintenance and design issue. There are enough challenges that BRP faces, even with full productions runs and years of feedback and experience, that it would greatly concern me to own something that would likely be difficult to repair and which doesn't have the same level of commitment behind it.

It this were a factory Goldwing sold in the US, it would be a completely different question, but I would rather own a bike designed to be what it is, than one that is modified so heavily from something else.

Does it have: Power Steering, A Nanny, Linked Brakes, ABS, heated grips, adjustable shocks, a geared (not electric) reverse, adjustable wind shield? Does it come with a BEST warranty? Semi-automatic transmission? Dealer network?

I mean, part of what we pay for in a Spyder is all of those things.

From what i understand it keeps the options that the GW has.....ABS, etc..........
Dealer network? Well....I'm not so sure you can call that a plus in spyder world....unless you are near a good one or break down near a good one.

I'm glad to see someone at least enter the field of the RT...competition is good for everyone
