What car tire size should I fit - 225/60 or 215/60R15?

Also.. I appreciate the tip you gave a few months back about placing a wedge on the Utopia backrest to get just the right angle for lumbar support.. prior to that simple tip I had tried some harsh attempts at getting a supportive angle on the backrest..

Thanks for your reply :yes: .... My first thoughts about how to add a lumbar support were complicated and difficult to do .... Then I decided SIMPLE was the answer. Easy to change, not permanent and it wasn't visible ..... Mike :thumbup:

The post you quoted Ex is referring to running a 215/60, while post #3 is expressing an opinion and a word of caution about running running a 225/60 tire - see below...

The OEM width certainly is 225, but it's not a 225 wide tire with a 60 profile.....

I am running a 215/60R15 General Altimax RT 43 on the rear. I haven't had any problems with the tire.

I am also on my 2nd General Altimax RT 43 tire.

I have a 2014 RTS-SE6 Spyder.

In post #3.- I was referencing the OP thinking a .... 225/ 60 -15 would fit .... I don't think it will, there is very little room at the REAR of the tire..... Mike :thumbup:

Mike ... a question. By “at the REAR of the tire”, are you referring to tire to rear fender gap? If so, am I correct in assuming that with a BPR chopped rear fender, that this is no longer an issue?

I'm running a 225/60R/15 on my 2018 F3L. It fits fine and is not causing any issues. We (riding 2 up) just finished a 7 day trip, fully loaded and no issues

Apology - I should have typed..... at the " Front of the Tire " by the Swing arm ..... I think it will be too close for that size ..... However another member5 just posted He mounted a 225/60-15 on His F-3 and it fits ...... Mike :thumbup:

FWIW, we have a 205/65 15 on the rear of our 2014 RT-L resulting in nearly 100% accurate speedometer when checked several times against two GPS units. They gave the same result of a speedometer reading of 75mph being 74.5mph actual speed. The narrower width does not seem to have been a problem, although I did run the pressure a little high and am replacing sooner than I would like but still going with the 205/65. While I was ordering the rear tire, I also got two tires for the front in 175/55. They fill the fenders pretty well but don't appear to have a safe clearance issue.

For reference, I'm trying Hankooks this time and will keep with the recommended pressures here to see if I can get better life out of the rear.

Rear tire is a Hankook Kinergy S Touring
Fronts tires are Hankook Ventus V4 ES
