• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What are the risks of changing the HCM Filter without BUDS?

What are the risks/dangers of changing the HCM without BUDS? Thinking of trying it myself....

I have done it twice now on mine. Make sure you note the tightening sequence that comes with the filter and do not overtighten. Only needs to be snug. Manual says torque in 97 in lbs. I go 50 first time and then the 97.

What does BUDS have to do with it? I thought it was a mechanical filter of sorts. I don't think BUDS needs to know it was done or something needs to be cleared from the ECU for warranty purposes or anything crazy like that.

BUDS is supposed to burp the air out of the HCM system on the 1330. I've never researched how it would accomplish this because it is completely unnecessary. But I know you can exercise the electrically actuated hydraulic gear shift solenoids with BUDS. I suspect this is what we are talking about.

You should idle the engine for at least 30 seconds after startup without revving, shifting, or doing anything else which gives the oil pump a chance to refill and pressurize all the oil cavities. Then, while still sitting still, shift into 1st and then into Reverse at least twice which will purge any air from the hydraulic solenoids and you're good to go. No BUDS needed.
