• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What a mess! (oil leak)

Well hello to all! Just thought I would share some of the fun I had today:shocked:. Last Sunday I went for a ride on my 2008 SE5. I stopped for gas, and while I was at the station, I noticed what appeared to be oil leaking down the panel right next to my right foot. I was not sure where it was coming from, so it would have to wait until I got home. Well today was the day to investigate, so here is what I found.

First off, this is what the leak looked like on the panel right behind the radiator.

Here are a few shots of the oil that is all over the airbox.

In this one you can see the oil drip marks all over the hoses under the airbox.

In these last two you can see what I found when I removed the top of the airbox. A FAT LOTTA OIL!

Surprisingly, the filter did not look like it had been fowled with oil. I will be replacing it all the same though. I am really amazed at what a mess oil in the airbox can generate all over the engine. I will also be checking the oil level tomorrow. After reading several posts here, I suspect the dealership may have overfilled at the last service. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Same deal here, 2008 SE5. At first I though that the dealer overfilled it, dropped the level, same thing. Tried several fixes, so far Lamonster catch can works the best, just remeber to plug the botttom hose to the airbox on the left. Do the search for Lamonstr oil catch can, ther's step by step instructions

You will probably have the oil in the airbox with the oil at the correct lever (or even somewhat low).

Modifying the crank vent system is the best way to fix this once and for all.

Looks like oil blow bye from the crankcase vent hose.
I fixed it on my 08 Sm5 a few years ago with a 1/2 inch piece of foam in the vent hose.

Did that to my Kaw.

I accidently overfilled my 05 Kaw Vulcan 2000 when I had it and that's exactly what happened to me. Messy!
