Well hello to all! Just thought I would share some of the fun I had today:shocked:. Last Sunday I went for a ride on my 2008 SE5. I stopped for gas, and while I was at the station, I noticed what appeared to be oil leaking down the panel right next to my right foot. I was not sure where it was coming from, so it would have to wait until I got home. Well today was the day to investigate, so here is what I found.
First off, this is what the leak looked like on the panel right behind the radiator.
Here are a few shots of the oil that is all over the airbox.
In this one you can see the oil drip marks all over the hoses under the airbox.
In these last two you can see what I found when I removed the top of the airbox. A FAT LOTTA OIL!
Surprisingly, the filter did not look like it had been fowled with oil. I will be replacing it all the same though. I am really amazed at what a mess oil in the airbox can generate all over the engine. I will also be checking the oil level tomorrow. After reading several posts here, I suspect the dealership may have overfilled at the last service. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
