Wet Spyder

[Spyder in La.]

I'm sure by now you have heard about the flooding here in South Louisiana. Two of my vehicle are totalled from water damage. My spyder wasn't submerged but I believe the water level was above the fuse box. I cranked the bike to move it before I realized that it too may have flood damage. Any opinions?

Make sure it is dried out before you do anymore cranking. Pull the exhaust off and drain it. Pull the battery charge and test it. check all fuses and reseat them. If the water was above the fuel breathing systems you may have to drain the tank and refill. Good luck hope nothing major was damaged ray:

The panels need to come off and everything washed as soon as possible. You don't know what was in the water and where debris has gotten into. It wasn't saltwater was it? If the water was not above the air box. The engine will be fine. Exhaust needs to be dumped out. The fuse box covers need to come off and dried out. Major connectors for main modules removed and dried out if water got into them.

It will likely be fine just a lot of time and maybe a few parts.

:agree: Pull everything off the bike, and clean the "crud" off of it. The floodwater definitely had stuff in it that you'd rather not know about! nojoke
Wheel and suspension bearings will need attention, as will all of the electrical connections that were under water.
It'll take some time and elbow grease, but your bike should be fine! :thumbup:

Man how I HATE to see pictures like that one. Floods are terrible things to have to deal with. My thoughts are with all the folks down there in Louisiana who were affected.

We are praying for you and others. If you have full coverage you might let your insurance company deal with it. There are so many connections that can get wet and down the road issues may show up. Just my thoughts.

More important things to be concerned about for those involved than a Spyder. Many have lost everything that they have. Many have no insurance. This is a major life altering situation for many. Let's put this in perspective. Prayers to all of those affected in LA. ray:
