• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Weird Noise every so often

Questions

New member
Ok, I have no clue how to describe this, but every once-in-awhile when my Spyder RT is at idle or low engine speed where I can hear, there is this noise, like a vibration or pump or something. It is very noticeable, sometimes happens every minute, other times less, or more. It never lasts more than 10 seconds or so, intermittent. It is really strange, I wearing hearing aids so for me it is hard to determine where it is coming from but it seems louder on the right side of the engine (as you are sitting on the bike). I had heard it was something routine but I looked in the manuals I bought (that's another story too), and found nothing.
I realize trying to word this how difficult it will be for someone to understand what I am trying to put in words, but just hoping that it makes some kind of sense to others that have heard the same type of noise. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you have an RT, it's the air pump of your rear suspension. It's normal to hear the pump for short period of time at low speed. You can adjust the air suspension with a button on the dashboard.

hear the same wierd noise

It's a hard noise to explain for sound. Kind of a growl for a few seconds. My first thoughts it was a fuel pump. Now with this post I'm thinking it's the air pump.

Weird noise

If you have the RTS, it could be the airpump. Could also be the fuel pump, which has been an issue for the 2014s.

Update

Thank everyone for your help. Here is what I found. It was indeed the air pump for the suspension, thank goodness. The dealer also said the whine that I could hear was the fuel pump but that it was not bad enough to replace at this time. Thanks for your time and help!!!
