• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Water temp gauge stopped working

I pulled the frunk off to install a radar detector and a security alarm as well as tiding up some wiring. I did a test start before I conneted the frunk wiring, the seat switch and the passanger heated grip back on. At this point it started fine but I had no dash display or headlights so I knew it must be due in part to the buds connector. I installed the frunk last night and everything worked fine but I had a skid control warning on my screen. I then plugged in the seat and grip wiring and that went away as well. I started again and now seen that I had lost the anologue water temp gauge but I was getting a bar graph on the dash and the light was working. (it still lit up but was pegged at the top of the gauge). I double checked the plug wiring to that guage but it was plugged in all right.

As part of the radar detector install, I took out gas gauge and replaced with the Radar detector head unit (fits right in the hole perfectly) so I took the guage and plugged it back in to check if the gas was working and, yes it was.

If I recall correctly, the fact the needle was pegged at the top meant the gauge had power and since the light was working it was properly grounded. This means I have lost the signal from the temp sending unit (correct me if I am wrong) and I have no idea where to look otherwise.

Anyone point me in the right direction? The gauge wiring looks like it joins into the maine harness under the dash so no way to trace it.

Thanks for any help,

Randy

It is possible that the oil pressure sensor wire was accidentally disconnected. Pull the right splash pan off of the front underside of the bike and take a peek upwards to see if the wire coming from the gauge is still connected to your oil pressure sensor. Before doing that however I would check the sensor wire connection on the back of the gauge. That is what I would do.

Its both or neither, can't keep just one plugged in & work correctly

My understanding is, that you have to unplug BOTH analogue gauges, otherwise you create problems like your experiencing. You can't have one analogue gauge plugged in & the other unplugged, its both or neither. We replaced both of Teddys analogue gauges, one side with a Ram mounted cup-holder & the other side with his Teddy-Cam LCD Display. So maybe you can replace the temp. analogue gauge with something else. Hope this helps & you get your machine back to where you want it ;)2011-09-15 15.29.13-1.jpg

Thank you for all the help, I was wondering if it was all or nothing. When I plugged the gas gauge back in to check I must not checked the temp gauge correct as I thought it still remained out. Now I have an excuse to find something else to put in its place! :-)

Regards and Merry Christmas to all :)
