• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Watch Out for Spammers

ARtraveler

R.I.P. Dwayne
There are currently three threads (that I caught) that look like spammers. So far, no one has linked--just looked. Admin notified.

:gaah: We've got us a full-blown infestation of the Ba$tard$... :gaah:
I report every one of them that I find, and I urge the rest of you to do the same... nojoke

Just a little note about all those spammers - I admin a few Aussie Forums, & it's very noticeable that if anyone replies or posts in a spammer originated thread, those get SWAMPED with crap-loads more spam soon afterwards!! :gaah:

Even just a post in a thread immediately after one of those spam posts somehow triggers more - read receipts? Thread subscriptions? Whatever it is that tells them they've got a response, if they get one they immediately increase efforts to spam posts & threads. :dontknow:

I've noticed the same happening on other Forums too, this one included - if anyone replies or posts in the thread at all then you WILL get more; but if the valid readers do nothing but report the dodgy posts, they tend to move on & bother other places a helluva lot quicker. :lecturef_smilie:

So, just a word of advice - if you want to see less spam, only ever respond by hitting that little exclamation mark down the bottom left of the offending post & reporting it as soon as you see it! That way the Admin/moderators will be alerted sooner & can get rid of it & the offending posters sooner too.

SPAMMERS

I don't know if this is relevant or not , but IMHO if you think the Title of the thread sounds ODD or the name of the Poster ..... I wouldn't click on it to see what it's about ....... because like E-mails they might be linked to a VIRUS that can infect YOUR computer .................just a thought ....... Mike

They are hitting us hard :banghead:
Does clicking the report triangle immediately kill the post, put it in quarantine, or just send an alert to admin to check it out? I think it should at least automatically put it into quarantine so admin can review it later and reinstate it if the report was in error.

I have to kill them by hand but keep reporting them. I may or may not get to it right away

:agree: It'll often be a new "Member", they just joined, they list "USA" for their location, and it's usually their first post...

...Which is full of links that are completely unrelated to Spyders. :gaah:

Just click on the Triangle, and they get cleared out!
