• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Warranty question

I am ready for my second servicing its been 9300 since my last. The soonest my dealer can work me in is July 7 since I have to wait there for it to be done. Which is the norm for me. What I was wondering is can I keep on riding or should I hold off? Will the extra miles nullify my warranty? How far past the given servicing miles can be accepted? Any help you can give I thank you much. And no I can't do it myself I have done it all along till now but at 84 its gotten too hard to get up and down.

service intervals

Yes a few miles over should not affect the warranty I went over by 200 mi.on my first service because service department at the dealer was busy they assured me not to worry. If everything had to be exact a lot of us would have lost warranty.

Extra miles should not be a problem. We bought the 2011 in July 2012, which had a six hundred mile break in service. Bought on a Friday and by Sunday we put 750 miles on it. Called for a service appt. on Monday and was told we had to wait a week for an opening. They told us to ride on. It got service at 1500 miles with no issues or problems. We turned 26,000 a week or so ago.

:congrats: Just keep close eye on oil level & the lower the mileage the better, can your dealer offer you a transfer to another qualified shop or individual ? :dontknow:
Make note if any odd activity develops so you can inform whoever when you do get the service done:thumbup:

Not to worry....

considering they state to change the oil every 9,300 miles or once a year you should be fine if you go over or under. I know some that have gone 1,000 miles over with no problem and have not seen a warranty denied in oil related cases other than lack there of. My suggestion for the future is change your oil way before 9,300 miles as most oils start breaking down after 4,000/5,000 miles....

Why then do they say 9300 when the oil can only last half that time?

If 9300 miles is good enough for BRP it's good enough for you. I am on my third Spyder. This is the first one I ever brought to dealers for service. The first one a 2008 SE5... we took a ride around the country...7.5 weeks, 13,624 miles, no oil change until I got home. Used 2 quarts. Never flinched. Ride and enjoy and worry less.
