There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Warranty disappointment

FireFly,

I am interested in knowing what types of things AAA does against motorcylce rights. I am a longstanding AAA member, used it many times, but I don't like the sounds of that.

I'll PM you some info--- don't want to hijack this thread or bash AAA out here and offend anyone...... ;)

No. Everyone here is entitled to their opinions and should feel free to discuss their experiences.

:agree:

One just needs to take care on the delivery of the statement....;)

I could easily see if someone has had various failures and problems with THEIR Spyder--- (perhaps being stranded)--- not 'trusting' the Spyder. This opinion will vary from one person to the next I'm sure--- but the majority of Spyder owners have had very little issues and I doubt they would hesitate to trust the Spyder for the long haul.

Whatever you do--- don't base the Spyders 'trust' on just what you read ---- base it on your personal experiences.

Other than my steering problem (which is fine now!-- the Dragon confirmed that for me!)---- I've had very few issues-- and never did the thought of being stranded enter my mind.

Although while in the backwoods of TN I did get worried once when I was low on gas and heard banjo music playing.......:roflblack:

:agree: Jack, you are always Welcome to express your opinion. Please don't stop. It does grieve me to see someone who was initially so excited about the Spyder, become be so worried, though. I think what you are seeing here is not blind loyalty, but honest expressions of why other owners trust their Spyders. I don't think they are arguing, just trying to encourage you to have a little faith.

Personally, I have ridden everything. The Brit bikes, Indian, and Harleys of yesteryear had incredible reliability issues, and let me down more than once. I still rode them, though. We just took it in stride. I have had great, reliable runs with Japanese bikes, but also some disappointing failures. I have had good luck with my BMW, but the forums and magazines are loaded with stories of Beemer riders who were stranded and saved by cooperative dealers. There are no guarantees. I will say this, when I go out to the garage I will grab the Spyder just as quickly as I will my BMW, no matter where I'm headed. Until one of them lets me down miserably, I will continue to do the same...without worries. I hope some day your confidence is restored, too.

For Nancy's Toy. Thank you for your comments. You are right, of course. I will try to be a little more upbeat about my Spyder. However, I shall watch her closly!!!

I agree with NancysToy. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If everyone agreed there would be no reason for any discussion or this forum.

If you are not happy or have no confidence in your Spyder then that's how it is.

I feel like if I had your Spyder issues it would not discourage me all that much, but then that's me.

I also agree with NT that the objective is more one of encouragement than arguement (though it may not come across as well in print as it might in person).

I've had a lot more issues with my wife than I ever have with my Spyder and I still have total confidence in her.

Sometimes the resolution of a problem can give you more conficence than you might have without a problem in the first place. Because it brings you to a greater understanding of the machine (or person) than you had before.

Sometimes it's all a matter of perspective.

Brp and bad Customer service

Clarification
The best way to get incompetent dealers to toe the line is probably Carlo at BRP Customer Service. He helped us through similar problems. BTW, the accessory terminal is only hot when the ignition switch is on, if the dealer wired it correctly. You would have had to leave the key on to run down the battery. Also, if the battery was not filled and let sit before it was charged, then charged overnight as the BRP procedure specifies, it was done incorrectly and will probably fail again. Your dealer has some serious explaining to do.

Not sure if this is the appropriate part of the forum I just wanted to pass along my problems with lack of customer service since buying my Spyder.
Good luck with contacting BRP or Carlo ,my o9 Spyder has had an oil leak since day one it now has 3000 kms and still no fix ( I leave oil drops everywhere I go ,embarrassing for a brand new machine) even though my dealer has promised to fix all my issues since the first service 2 months ago or 2000kms ago.I have had horrible service from my dealer here in Calgary ,Canada .I have e mailed Carlo and had no responce directly from him ,not sure why ? I also mailed a registered letter to the heads at BRP hoping to generate a decent responce ,also a dissapointment .The best they did was have a regional sales rep call me over a week ago and he basically told me that they would suggest to my dealer that they give better customer service but since they weren't franchised there wasnt much they could do .He basically offered excuses for them otherwise?:hun: I am still awaiting word from either BRP or my dealer to resolve any mechanical or customer service issues. BRP's customer service STINKS so far if you ask me and this has really tainted my experience with my new Spyder which I love otherwise.I am having trouble being an ambassador for the Spyder as a result.Good luck With BRPs customer service as I have been treated like a second class customer. Very dissapointing !

warranty used!

I went in to pick her up a week ago Saturday, and while the Service manager was adding up the $225 he was going to charge me, I calmly asked "Don't those batteries have some kind of warranty?"...
yeah, 6 months.
"Gee, my bike is only 4 months old"
Oh man, I thought you had had that bad boy for a year? I'd rather send the bill to the warranty folks...here's the key! The new battery is covered for the next six months!

(Theme song to the old 1950's Victory at Sea tv show starts playing in my head) everyone wins this time

:popcorn:Wow! I continue to be impressed by the loyalty of the Spyder community. I just based my comments about the Spyder in comparison with all the other bikes I have owned over the 60+ years I have been riding. When all is said and done, I still have little confidence in the Spyder. I enjoy the heck out of riding it - I just don't trust it.
:agree:almost every post I say I enjoy riding it (I just don't trust it)it has left me stranded twice both times late at night.
1st time valve cover gasket smoke oil every where had to be towed.
2nd time coolant bottle failure around 60mph not a leak a self destruct failure if I wasn't wearing gear boots chaps leathers would have been in hospital for severe burns for sure wish I got some pics of bottle seen some on here but mine let go right at hose return so basicle like a wide open garden hose till empty shut down another tow job :cus:
