• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Waaaaah! I broke my Spyder.

Went out to the garage tonight to try out my Ipod and the interface and found an issue with the Spyder. About two weeks ago I put a trickle charger on using the power connector in the trunk. When I opened the trunk I pushed the Spyder's cover up out of the way and left the trunk open. Well sometime in the past two weeks the cover slipped further up and caused the radio antenna to bend. I guess the cold temperatures we had and the bending force from the cover caused the radio antenna to snap off right at the base. :gaah: Now I need to order a new one. :banghead:

On the good side, the Ipod interface worked well and "Magic Carpet Ride" and "Born To Be Wild" blaring from the speakers sounded really great. Although it would have been better if I was screaming down the road at 60 while it was blaring.:ohyea:

I broke the stock radio antenna a while ago. They really are brittle and easy to break. I ended up getting a shortee antenna to replace it. Don't remember who I bought it from though.

New antenna = $61.48 with shipping. :banghead: Won't be doing that again.

You really need to consider replacing it with the Scosche from Walmart... about $8.

but, I have a barely used oem one that I will sell for 1/2 price! :roflblack:

Sorry

Seen several posts about that problem. Maybe an after market would fare better. At least the jams work:thumbup:

Are these aftermarket antenna threaded with the same thread size/pitch as the originals? Will they screw into the brass base or do you have to replace the whole thing?

The Walmart stubby comes with a bunch of adapters to fit just about anything.

I bought the Wally World version just because I like the looks. For less than ten bucks, you can't beat it!

I actually think the Walmart shorty gets better reception than the original oem. Looks better too!
I snapped mine taking the cover off on a road trip.Went straight to the nearest Walmart bought the shorter antennae and installed it.Works perfectly.

If I could figure out how to get a bunch of the noise that I listen to sent your way...
Pretty near all of the really hard rock from the early to mid-seventies, plus the really noisy stuff out of the sixties!
No POP music here...

cjackg and scotty have you covered about the WalMart shortee. I have one that I bought when the original fell off. (Thats another story and thread though). I also thought the reception was better than the OEM.

I broke my antenna today, went to Walmart and picked up the shorty. Looks and works well, thanks for the recommendation and saving me $$$$$$$$;)
