• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Vibrations on the 2011 RTS/SE5

I now have 1100 miles on my Spyder. I want to know if everyone is getting vibrations on theirs ? Are some of the vibes from the road and the rest from the engine ? I am presuming that alot of the vibes are coming from the road, due to the fact that the rear tire is riding on the center of the lane and the front tires are riding on both sides of that. Is everyone feeling the same thing ? My tires are set at 20/28 and shock settings are at 3 and sometimes 5.

I am now getting 35 mpg and before I was getting 32 ! I shift at just over 3,000 rpm and release the throttle each time, for a smooth shift.

I feel a lot of engine vibrations below 5K RPMs. 5K or above all is smooth as glass. I do get some belt vibrations between 4K and 4.5K but I have a belt tensioner that I installed to get rid of that. Still needs a little adjustment for more tension to completely eliminate the belt vibrations. One thing for sure it vibrates a lot less than my previous ride which was a HD Ultra Classic.

Thank you very much for the quick response. I now see what my problem might be. I have NEVER GONE above 4,500 rpm. I guess I will have to try a couple of times above 4,500. Maybe that is why I get good gas mileage. (32-35 mpg.

maybe your front-wheels are not balanced - the RT should not have any vibrations :lecturef_smilie:

Very litle vibration on my :spyder2: RTS. I seldom get into 5th gear unless I am 70+ mph and try to shift between 5000 and 5500.

vibration

I too have vibration on my rt 2011 around 50mph or higher . I also still have the noise when I take off . They say it is the belt and that they are working on it . I am going to call my dealer tomorrow to find out if they figured it out yet or not.

There have been some poeple that think some of the vibrations are coming from a bolt hitting the frame as well. Search for vibration and I'm sure you will come across one of them. That, they say, feels like your running over a grate in the road. Some say its the belt. I took mine in when I had the glovebox replaced and they called BRP and they told them to check something in the steering (linkage rods I think) that could be touching and mine wasn't. I brought the thread in about the bolt and to be honest, I don't think they checked it even though thats what I told them I think it is. It is involved though to get to the frame though. Could be the belt too. I just dealing with it until it gets on my nerves bad enough. Just glad I got the extended warranty.

Virbration I just located it add took a die grinder and ground out the metal underneath the nut that was touching. It's like having a new spyder.
