• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Vibration?

I've noticed a lot more vibration on my 2010 RTS- SM unit as compared to my 2008 RS. In fact when I accelerate say over 50 or so and go WOT, the engine sounds like and feels like its groaning.

The 2008 RS i had did not do this and it just would whine at a higher rpm.

Anyone else see this?

Had the same issue when we picked up my wifes new RT. We had the black wheels installed and it seems that when they balanced the new wheels it was not right. Took it back to the dealer and they re-balanced the wheels and all is good now.

Got a call from the Service Manager from my Dealer.
He himself took it out for a test drive (After the 600 mi maint, after they fixed the 0 Odometer issue etc). he confirmed that over 40mph the front wheels were all over the road. He said he will do a tire balance and probably an alignment in the morning.

As for the engine groan, they say that's normal. My RS never did that.

I have the same engine groan sound. Almost sounds like the engine is lugging or in too high of a gear. Kind of irritating. My RS didnt do it either

Got the bike back yesterday and I took it for a spin.
Wow, whata difference! Balanced tires, etc.
Nice and smooth all the way up to 85mph. I do get some groan but a wee bit less when in 5th grear going up to WOT.

I noticed that the engine is happiest above 4000 rpm. Anything below that and I can feel/hear/sense the computer working the Fuel injection and ignition timing to get optimum performance at that slower RPM.
I never hear any knocking, but I do hear it working trying to keep up.
The engine continues to pull smoothly, but sounds and feels happier above that 4000 mark.
Anyone else notice this?

And much, much happy above 7,000 RPM! :2thumbs:

I never owned an RS so I have nothing to compare the RT against but the RT is trying to accelerate at least 230 pounds more than the GS/RS. The weight difference alone could cause the groan you're hearing especially under 5000 RPM. I know my RT is much happier above 5000 and, as docdoru says, even happier above 7000.

OK so to get way above 5000 rpm, do you run 4th gear at 60+mph ? To get that in 5th I would be like 80+mph.

At 60mph I would normally be in 4th gear and for sure if I was accelerating. If I'm just kinda cruising at 60mph, I might shift into 5th and just let it loaf along. At 70mph mine is turning just a tick under 5000RPM so I'm normally in 5th.
