• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Vibration in Handlebars

J R's Spyder #1

I have a 2015 RT. After riding a distance I experience my fingers tingling like they are going asleep. I purchased a soft device that goes over my grips but it didn't help. I contacted my local Spyder dealer and talked to the service department and he stated it was just the way they were. He also has experienced the same thing with his Spyder after a ride of 100 miles. Any one else experienced this and any thoughts how to take care of this situation? Thanks for your input.

Correct me if am wrong, but if the handlebars are hollow just put some BB's in each side. The BB's will dampen the vibration.

Good Luck

Little checking..

If you are feeling it in the bars then you should have the front end checked....wheel balance, alignment, joints and air pressure. There is always some but not to where it makes you hands go numb. The foam grips should be all you need to make it more comfortable....

Vibration in the handle bars

:hun: :yikes::yikes:
I suggested the BB's, number one very cheap, Number two it works to change the vibration freq. Another suggestion is a Bar Snake, no not someone of questable character from the local bar, Bar Snakes are made of rubber and will do the same as the BBs.

Coming from a background of old bikes, both American an Europe I can tell you the systems work. No amount of tire balance would stop the vibs from getting through that old Norton frame. One good thing about the old shakers, you could find your way back home, just look for the pieces that had fallen off. This only worked in the daylight, due to the electrical systems of some bikes. British bikes used the tailight to bleed of excess battery charge, not good if the bulb burned out.

Anyway that how I know about BBs and such.

Good luck

The dealership that says that's just the way they are is trying for this weeks pegging of the BS meter.

I had the same problem and the dealer balanced the front tires and the vibration was cut by 70%. Factory put the balance weights on the wrong side of the tire.
If under warranty have them dynamically re-balance. The OEM front tires are known to have some "problems". Lots of blogs about tires on the site.

There will always be a bit of vibrations: stuff is being flung around inside an engine, and there's lots of stuff spinning around at high speeds...
Try relaxing your grip, and see if that helps.
Are you feeling it in your feet also? :dontknow:
How about your backside?
My hands go numb due to carpal tunnel issues. I've learned to NOT ride with my wrists bent. It helps quite a bit.

The Spyder is my 1st V-Twin. I'd love to see a knowledgeable discussion of vibrations...all those vibes!
Vibes related to speed
Vibes related to transmission gear.
Vibes related to engine RPM.

It could be a seminar (or would that be a webinar?). :dontknow:

I bought a new 2016 RT Limited and it had a vibration from the get go. The dealer replaced one of the front tires, but that didn't help. So they replaced the rim and the vibration was gone. You may want to have this checked out at a better dealer.
