• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am a new rider so my opinion might not be worth much...

Being 150 or 200 lbs. lighter it is no doubt the RS would whop up on the 998 RT and I would say it will also beat the 1330 from 0 to 60 or in the 1/4 miles as well. I would not want a touring motor in a sport machine. I think the 998 runs very well even in my RT. Bob, you've had both, will the 998 hang in there with the 1330 in a strictly performance contest?

We rode with my daughters group weekend before last. 2 were non-metric sport bikes. the rest were "crotch rockets". Taking it out of eco mode, I was able to keep up with all but the 1200 and 1400 Busa's. The sportys had me in the 100-200 yd range, but I hit 7000rpm in 3rd then 4th and started passing them. THEN I realized how fast I was going and slowed back down to near the speed-limit...:)
 
very, VERY, disappointed tonite.....
i put aside the required funds to purchase a new
2015 SPYD3R RS... the ONLY stipulation was for BRP to install the 1330cc... but that's a NO GO now... :wrong:boo hoo hoo....

well, i'll stick with my perfect '09 for another year...

Last year; all of the RS Pilots were crowing that the 1330 was a boat anchor, and their 998s would whup it, in a fair fight. ;)
Now; we've got folks crying in the beer, because they DIDN'T get the very motor that they spend so much time griping about... :roflblack:
Not me my friend. Most of us still aren't into the 1330 on the RS.....
 
Before you get all disappointed take a F3 for a ride, it puts the fun back into riding a Spyder at a level it's never been. nojoke
 
Best bet for the RSS is really to buy a holdover '13 or '14. Only difference is color choices and the discounts should be good.

I'll take an F3 for a demo ride but I'm not sold on it. The side profile is nice, the front and rear are kind of weird. I doubt the 1330 is going to offer up any more performance over the twin in the RS/ST. Not sure the riding position is for me and really...........it's just too damned expensive.
 
The F3, at least on paper, should be quicker than the RS. The weights are very close and the triple does have a bit more power.

I watched with interest, to see what was coming down the pike . . . but I have lots of miles to put on my 2013 RT before I'll be buying a new Spyder . . . I hope!

At first I thought the F3 was goofy looking, but from angles more like you'd see it from standing next to it, it's definitely growing on me. Unfortunately, the feet-forward seating is still a deal-breaker for me. Had one cruiser, won't go back.

But it's a totally different riding posture. That's the problem. It's a cruiser bike. Why won't BRP give us a good performance setup? I don't get it.
 
If I were to buy a :spyder2: for looks, and wanted the most powerful engine, the F3 would be on my list.

I would add the "muscle" package. They are also offering a "touring" package as well as the "urban nights" package. IMO, these packages really spiff up the looks. :yes:

Does anyone know what these cost in addition to the :ani29:? The BRP site is playing "wonky" like last year and wont give up the information--to me--anyway.

I like the mean looks and it is growing on me the more I look at it. Not going to buy one, because I only have 8500 miles on my 2014 RT which has pretty much remained unchanged for 2015.

I am thinking that there are going to be quite a few F3's on the road because they will appeal to a lot of the non-traditional :spyder2: owners.

I see more positives than negatives here with the F3. This statement has not been solicited or paid for by BRP.
 
On a cruiser, with your legs out in front of you, you can't lean forward into the wind. So you must constantly pull yourself forward against the wind blast. And without having your legs under you, all your weight is on your tailbone. I have nothing against cruisers for in-town, short-haul riding. But get over 45 MPH for very long, or spend more than 50-60 minutes in the saddle, and it gets really old. The trouble is what feels right in the dealership at zero MPH is wrong while actually riding, and vice versa.

If the foot and bar adjustment in the F3 was/is enough to account for both positions then I'd be more excited but from what I can see at the BRP website that's not the the case. You can adjust to be more or less "cruiser" but can't adjust enough to get to a "sport" position. From what I can tell at the BRP site this is because of the foot peg adjustment not the handle bar adjustment. Maybe I should fire up the CAD system and 3D printer and print some foot pegs that will allow this? Not sure how that effects the brake pedal though? I'd have to see the real thing or get some info from BRP engineering to know.
