• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

very, VERY, disappointed tonite.....
i put aside the required funds to purchase a new
2015 SPYD3R RS... the ONLY stipulation was for BRP to install the 1330cc... but that's a NO GO now... :wrong:boo hoo hoo....

well, i'll stick with my perfect '09 for another year...

Same here...was set to get a '15 RS-S as a gift to self when I finish this Masters degree in a few months. The new tri-color paint isn't enough. Wanted to see the updated engine and adjustable riding positions. Will just wait for 2016!

What are you going to buy when BRP doesnt put the 1330 into the RS and phases out the RSS/RS all together in favor of the F3. It already seems to have a model for each style of bike people turned the RS into. I especially like the Touring model. And i need to price one through my dealer.

Of course, I'm also looking at the slingshot too. Gotta see how easy it is to get in and out of, especially when i decide to make this one last. If the touring model is comfortible for my passenger i may look into it, instead of going Base RT..unless the F3 touring comes out to be more expensive than the base RT.

The BRP guys at Spyderfest this year told me they didn't foresee putting the triple in the RS or ST anytime soon, so I had no expectations of that.

With the touring model they eliminate the ST place in the lineup, with the Muscle/urban models they eliminate the RSS.

For those wanting power, ala 1330, it seems that F3 is going to be the way to go. A lot predicted that BRP was putting the eggs into the F3 basket this year. I would say, that in a year or two, the RS will probably be no more (depending on sales). The ST also may be destined for the chopping block.

I have not checked out the accessories for F3 due to the "wonkiness" of the BRP site tonight, so I have no comment there.

Glad my 2014 RT will be pretty much the same for one more year. That should help with resale value.

It sounds like you want an RS with the F3 features. Besides the cost, is there something else you do not like about the F3?

It's funny how moods change... :D
Last year; all of the RS Pilots were crowing that the 1330 was a boat anchor, and their 998s would whup it, in a fair fight. ;)
Now; we've got folks crying in the beer, because they DIDN'T get the very motor that they spend so much time griping about... :roflblack:

I do know that I'll be trading out of or selling my RSS before they eliminate it, and possibly tank its value.
i personally don't think the value of the rss will tank if they discontinue it. the gs and the rs was brp's first go with the spyder. people will still want those models. if anything, i think you might even get a little more for it if they were to be taken out of the line-up. jmho!

cost is not an issue... but the looks of the F3 is... it's simply BUTT UGLY...
I was contemplating on going with an RS-S this year, and decided to wait on the new F3....... It's starting to grow on me, I just need to see it in person. Probably be next April before Powersports of GVL gets one in house. Guess it'll be me and the RT for another 7 - 8 months...... maybe longer.

As an RS owner I wouldn't want the 1330 engine in the RS as it's too wide, heavy and power band appears wrong for the sort of riding I do (quick riding on twisty, single lane roads).

I would like a faster version of the current engine, perhaps some of the Aprilla tuning.

  • The RS appeals to people who like road or sports bikes
  • The ST for those who want a more comfortable RS but without the bulk of RT. A sort of Sports/Tourer
  • The RT was full on tourer
  • The F3 is the Cruiser

Like any bike manufacturer they have four very different markets covered there. If you wanted to compare that range with Honda then perhaps VFR, ST, Goldwing, Valkyrie would be their equivalents.

You'll also find different markets go for different models. For example in New Zealand the majority of Spyders are RS's and though I don't have the figures I suspect RS's are also more popular in Europe as well.

Being 150 or 200 lbs. lighter it is no doubt the RS would whop up on the 998 RT and I would say it will also beat the 1330 from 0 to 60 or in the 1/4 miles as well. I would not want a touring motor in a sport machine. I think the 998 runs very well even in my RT. Bob, you've had both, will the 998 hang in there with the 1330 in a strictly performance contest?

:dontknow: Sooo... vote with your wallet! ;)
"How about the fact that it's a reverse trike Harley and it's UGLY!"

:hun: Somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning! :roflblack:
