There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Very frustrating weekend

Lamont,

My 2010 RT-S did this same thing two weeks ago. I had ridden the bike on a Tuesday and rode well. Went out on Wednesday and would not start. Tried so many times that drained battery and had to put tender on. Left overnight to charge and started right up on Thursday...very strange as never had this happen before. No new gas, battery charged, nothing new installed...just did not want to start. :(

Lamont, I've had two experiences very similar to yours with my Kawi Vulcan. Both have been when it's cold outside (below freezing) and my garage is not heated, so the bike was very cold. It would crank over OK, but just wouldn't pop off. The first time it happened, I knew I had flooded it, so I pulled the plugs and cleaned them up and left them out for a day to let any fuel in the cylinders evaporate. After that, it fired up. Just recently it happened again, and I knew it was flooded cuz I could smell raw gas in the exhaust. Instead of pulling the plugs again, I tried jump starting it with my car, even though it seemed to be cranking just fine. That did the trick. So, I have a theory that even though the battery seems to have good cranking power, maybe the voltage drops just enough that the ignition system can't produce good spark, so the fuel is not ignited. And I did try WOT, and that didn't seem to help me either. Just a thought.

Started the Spyder RT -S this morning for my ride to work
Started 1st time (Has been on a battey charger/minder)
Accidently knocked the Kill (Engine stop switch) With my right hand putting
my hand back on the handlebars
Spyder would crank over but not fire up
Turned it off, back on but would still not start up
Switched off again and left it off for about 2 mins enough for the Mode
button needed to restart the Spyder
Again it was having trouble firing - This time I opened and closed the throttle while pressing the starter button - Spyder fired up and ran ok
Rode to work no engine problems running fine
Leaving work tonight it started 1st time and is running fine, all seems normal to me - No engine issues

I was a little confused ref what action with the throttle I should have done
either made sure it was fully closed or fully opened or just do what I did
and twist the throttle until it fires up

Iv'e read this thread and not sure I fully understand the close throttle a bit?

Thanks

My recommendation is to try two things, in this order. First, crack the throttle slightly and crank the engine. This should fire it if the problem is just fuel saturated (not flooded) cylinders. The BRP engineers say this has no effect, but it was recommended to me by Kurt, of their tech division, and it usually worked on mine. This problem and cure is best for trouble with hot engine restarts. As a second course of action, hold the throttle wide open while cranking, then close and try again. The WOT position shuts off the spark and fuel, and clears the cylinders. If it doesn't fire immediately, crack the throttle and try. If that doesn't do it, repeat the process. The WOT procedure is in your manual.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but ref the following :-

The WOT position shuts off the spark and fuel, and clears the cylinders. If it doesn't fire immediately, crack the throttle and try. If that doesn't do it, repeat the process. The WOT procedure is in your manual.

I looked in the Service manual (Electronic Version) Using WOT in the search field it confirms details on the drowned engine - ref the WOT Position

What does WOT mean Is it Wide Open Trottle but trying to
find this written down I couldn't find it anywhere Just WOT
Can you confirm what WOT is

Is it also in the Operators manual (Electronic)as I put in WOT in the search field and it could not find any reference to it

Thanks

Sorry, my hurry. WOT is Wide Open Throttle, or drowned engine mode. The normal follow-up to that is a standard, closed throttle start, but if that doesn't work, try starting with the throttle slightly opened.
