• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED in my SPYD3R dealer...
while watching the mechanic put together a new 'WHITE' ST LIMITED togehter, i made an offer on it last Thursday (01/24/2013), at my dealers here in GREENVILLE. They took down all my information on my '09 RS/SE5 for a trade as well as taking picture of my HOT ROD which was also to be part of the deal... i was told by the salesman that they would call me back shortly. so i left expecting to hear from them by Thursday evening... no call came, none on Friday, Saturday or Monday... so i called today, Tuesday, and was told that somebody else bought it... now i've boasted about this place on this website for years... their service dept. is 2nd to none... however, i can not say the same for the sales dept... has anyone else had similar treatments from their dealers? if so, have you contacted BRP about it?

Sorry to hear that somebody beat you to the bike...
But in Sales; the first one to the counter with the cash; wins!
Perhaps if you had put a deposit down on the bike?? :dontknow:

Something like this is a catch 22. If you hound them about the deal you lose a lot of bargaining power. If you don't the bike is likely to get sold out from under you. Especially something as hot as the 2013 Spyder.

Really, they may have discussed a deal more to make you happy that they were considering it than being all that serious about it. What you're trying to swing will work a lot better on a leftover 2012 model.

Good luck!

Sorry...

In my experience with working at dealerships (sales persons change like supercuts) there are sales people working different hours or changing allowing for unsecured units to be sold out from under. I would not have waited that long to follow up. Good luck on the next one

Unfortunately nothing is sold (or even held) until money is handed over and papers are signed. I think this is the case at any dealer. When I bought my Spyder I was even worried on the way to the dealer that someone might have beaten me to it even thought I had spoken to them two days before. Sorry for the bad break.

I can't speak to the details of your deal but my experience is that a Sales Dept. and a Service Dept. can be two completely different animals in the same building. I cut my best deal I can with the Seals Dept. but will trader 80 miles from home (which I do) to get a great Service Dept. Quality, caring Service is way more important than loyalty to the dealership I purchased from.

Ride in comfort,
John

:agree: with everyone above. As the saying goes: "Money talks, bull:cus: walks!" I have been in that same boat before with everything from cars to houses and boats. If there is no money on the table, everything is just words and paper. Besides, starting to negociate with a trade in (in my experience) is a wrong way to start. If you take your Spyder out to your house, it is still yours, the dealer will not consider that as a deposit/collateral and later decide that the initial value is no more. You should have left a deposit AND talked to the General Manager to assure that the new Spyder is to be yours. To be a little more cleaner on the saying (and I have a plaque on my desk that says this): "After all is said and done, more is said than done!"nojoke

I've had this happen to me twice when buying a car.

Looked at a car then went in to see the salesman with checkbook in hand. Another couple walked up to the car with a salesman after we stepped away and bought the car.

Took a car for a test drive, came back said we would take it. Another salesman had sold it while we were on the test ride. :gaah:

APPRECIATE THE INPUT

I APPRECIATE ALL THE INPUT...
however, in my 65 yrs. of dealing with sales people, it's only been a couple times where i've made an offer just to have the 'unit' sold on me... 95% of sales people will call the first person to say there is another who's interested... where i come from, it's called 'being polite'... i now have reservations whether to purchase my next SPYD3R from these people.... thx everyone...

Chances are after showing the "deal" to his boss he said no and the sales person didn't have the guts to call you back and tell you so. Like everyone said above "money talks" and in this economy I can't say I blame them but I would have called you to let you know. That's just me.

Sorry but you snooze you lose.
Back in May of 08, My dealer had his first shipment of Spyders being set up, I walked in and said I'll take the yellow one, The salesman said that one is spoken for, So i said let me know when you get another one in yellow, He said that might take weeks, So i told him I'll write you a check in full today,
Long story short , The next day i road out with the Yellow Spyder.

a simple, quick, return call: "hey, we can't accept your offer" would have been fine, and i'd walk away smiling, and return for the next one... but NO CALL... insulting...
but life goes on, and i'm happy, so happy that you'd have to be twins to realize just how happy i am.... keep smiling people...

The previous posters pretty much have the subject covered. Sorry to hear that they sold it without contacting you. IMO: a phone call would possibly have saved another sale to you.

Two vehicles traded in on one new vechicle is pretty rare though--and I am guessing the sales manager squelched that.

Maybe this is a chance to get some extra accessories, an extended warranty, some free service (600 miles) or something of that nature? The worst they can say is no.

they advertise: WE'LL TAKE ANYTHING FOR A TRADE... they've even taken GOATS.... also; guns, cars, boats and many other things... this from the GM's own mouth.... so i offered them my HOT ROD + my '09 SPYD3R... yup, 1 call would have secured at least one sale for them...

I'm not certain that I would have waited five days to follow up.

Don't know the dealership but assume they have one white ST Limited available and maybe three or four salespeople on the floor. Every one of those salespeople wants to sell machines. Unless there was an approved (by a manager) deal secured by a deposit in hand, that machine is fair game for anyone on the floor.

Salespeople traditionally don't communicate with each other (in fact the opposite is usually the norm) so maybe it took a day or so for the fact that it was sold to filter through the organization. Sounds to me like the salesperson is the culprit here, lacking the class to call you.

I would agree with some of these no it alls but its not like you were a no body off the street, you had been doing business with them for years and I think itwas wrong wrong worng. Maybe money talks but so does dealer repretations and I can bet the next 20 possible sales of people asking about your Spyder will not be directed to that dealer. I would tell them "I am happy you made the sales but you will be losing any potential buyers that I might have sent your way"!!! "

I traded my Rs last Tuesday. Used a pic of my bike on Facebook to lock the deal. Put 500 down before left to go 30 miles to get Mt old buke because two other people lookinf at same ST. Went back to dealwr signed papers and left. Little deposit locked me in. had they sild it then I would have been pissed. Sorry happened to you.

DT, 5 days: day 1, Thr. no call, day 2 & 3, ICE STORM, - i figured they were closed since half the upstate of SoCar was closed... my fault, they weren't.... day 4 & 5, store is closed for business... called at 10AM on day six to be told that the GM didn't like my offer, and he, the salesman, was too busy to call me back to let me know :lecturef_smilie: had he, i may have made a counter-offer.... and guess what: i called a friend in another dept. and asked if 'my salesman' was the one that sold it, and HE DIDN'T.... so he didn't make his commission on that one, and he won't make one off of me either..... JUSTICE...

Hey SPYD3R when I lived in Georgia I heard nothing but good things about Velocity Powersports in Ladsen.
