I have been wanting to try the performance pipe for a while to try to reduce the heat radiating up from the primary muffler/cat. The heat was so bad on my 15 RT, the emissions sticker began to peel up off the top frame rail. My trouble was that I did not want a lot of extra noise.
When I saw that LaMonster was including the can opener baffle with the pipe, I ordered it. I installed the baffle without trying the pipe baffle-less as suggested. I noticed a small increase in noise, but nothing that wife #1 would complain about from atop her passenger perch.
I simply could not believe how much cooler the under seat temperature was compared to when I had the primary muffler/cat installed. And as an added feature, I got slightly better gas mileage. After running the performance pipe for about 1500 miles, I am very pleased.
The only problem I had was actually installing the LaMonster pipe. After seeing the pipe in person, I considered it more of a work of art than an exhaust part! To me, the new pipe looked like it should have been framed and hung on a wall rather than hidden away under a bike...LOL
