USB Rocker Switch

Having only a RT A/C I have 2 open rocker switches on the dash. Has anyone engineered putting a USB outlet (preferrrably whether proof) in the empty rocker switch slot?

There's a company called JT's Spyder Store. They have a dual USB "switch" called the Carchet Car 3.1. It fit's neatly in one of those unused rocker switch slots. It looks like an original equipment manufacture, has a weather proof cap, and has blue illumination that is visible in low light. Check them out one day. I've enclosed a link here, but don't know if it can be accessed.

Wazoo, I was wondering if you were able to find a rectangled weather proofed usb switch for the rocker slot? @Bullant12 idea was brilliant but the previous owner had the CB kit inatalled and the circle in use, so I need to use the free bays on the right.

I have been looking at the dual USB with the Volt meter setting on my desk thinking of putting it in the empty slot but was worrying about it getting wet, After two weeks I went with the in side of the glove box route< I wanted it to be able to charge when i was parked but didn't want it on all the time so I found a Dorman mini rocker (Waterproof) installed it in the empty spot wired to the USB in the glove box alone side of a standard power outlet,
Now I can turn it on and charge what ever and still be able to see the voltage.


Seeing I have never had the tupperware off and thanks to BMW and my old K1200LT I had a good idea but still getting to the Glove box is a real Pain

Don't know if you've managed to find a solution to your question yet, but you might try JT's Spyder Store. There's a device he sells which fits into that empty rocker switch slot, is weatherproof, looks OEM, is illuminated at night, has the jacks for two USB plugs. It's called a Carchet Car. And I have one installed on my 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-S. Just a thought.

Dual USB installed in blank instrument slot

Great USB charger. On my 2012 RT A&C I put it in the first unused slot right of center. I broke two before I realized that the handlebar, when turned for full right turn, hit the USB cable just enough to push the charger to the right, breaking the top off. It needs be installed in the center slot, which requires some cutting, which I don't have proper tools for. I had put 52mm blank covers where the gas and temp gauges had been. I cut a slot for the USB charger and it looks great. Make sure you note how the cover locks into the instrument panel or the charger will not be up and down. Easy to wire. It did not require any splicing of wires. Only downside is it is not always hot. I will change that soon.

The dual plug works great. However, it MUST go in the center slot, which does require cutting the tupperware (I don't have those tools). I installed two in the slot next to the center and I broke both before I realized that when you fully turn the handlebars, they will push against the usb cable, breaking off the top of the switch. When I removed the gas and temp gauges awhile back, I put 52mm ProSport covers in their place (from rallysportdirect.com). I cut out one to fit the usb plug and it looks and works great. There was no splicing needed. Just plugged into the temp gauge plug. The only downside is it is not hot when the key is off. I will fix that soon. Before you cut, make sure you know how the cover locks onto the dash or you may cut the hole at an angle rather than up & down.
