• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Urgent advise please!!!!

Hey people, we are on our way home from MV, we are in Knoxville headed to tulsa, the check dps warning came on along with the check engine light, how bad is it? Do i need to leave it somewhere so i dont break it? Thanks! Will check for responses at the next gas fill up, if i survive the storm!!!

If the light went off and you are not in limp mode you should be alright. I had it happen on my 2008 a few times.....

No lipm mode yet, hope i can make it home, i may have to spend the day here, there is a bad storm ahead of me:doorag::mad:

The DPS draws an awful lot of power...
Could it be an issue with your battery's condition, or the connections? :dontknow:
Good Luck!

The speedometer quit working, the spyder got wet last night, what is the dps? Where do i find it ? What it looks like!?, anything i can do to make the light and warning go away???

The DPS system is your power steering...
I would highly doubt that it could get wet enough to affect it's performance...
Since the bike got wet; I'd take a look at battery connections...

You riding the brake a lot? This can cause DPS error I believe. Had he same issue coming down the mountain in maggie valley a couple of years ago.

Try stopping turning it off and walking away with he key for a few minutes it will probably clear.

No brake riding more than normal, spyder acts good other than the warnings, will keep going after the storm and see what happens, are there any spydeelovers somewhere close to. I40 that would let me keep it there for a day or 2 just in case? We can ride together on the triumph

Can you check the "SL to the rescue" list from your device? If not, tell me what city along I 40 and I will check for you. See PM for my phone no.

Mine did it twice going to Daytona for bike week. Walked away with the key for a few min both times and it was just fine when I returned. Lamont hooked it up to Budds while we were there and he said that the history showed that I had been riding the brake one of those times. That shows how easy it can happen without realizing that you are doing it because I always try to careful not to as I know what will happen. Good luck and wish that I was close enough to help. Rudy

You can get the DPS error (and even a limp mode) from riding sweepers and off-camber roads for long periods of time. The only time my Spyder ever threw a DPS code, check engine light and limp mode at me all at once was in just such a situation, riding hard over mountain corners with plenty of off-camber roads.

If it's THAT reason, then it's nothing to worry about-- shut it off, take the key, walk away, and let it reset. Won't show up again unless you're riding in that same situation.

Thanks guys!!, well,,,, yesterday i rode it to the Chimney Rock park, the curves are very sharp!! I was having fun and trying to make the front wheels to come up, i was trying hard, maybe i messed it up:opps::opps:
We made it to Memphis, will see what happens in the morning, greatly appreciate the quick responses, you guys rock!!!:clap::clap:

Mine has gone off the same way three times. Just pulled over and cut it off, ten seconds started back up, no more lites. Each time it happened in a turn with a bump midway through the turn, think it may have messed with the sensors with the bump in mid corner and threw the front wheels just far enough out of alignment. Should be fine.:2thumbs:

Thanks for the offer Joe, greatly appreciated but we made it home safely, could never get rid of the warnings but never went to limp mode, we stayed in Memphis our room was on the 4th floor, was hopping it was far enough for it to reset itself, no luck, will take it to the dealer tomorrow, need it ready for Galveston in a month:D

dps...

Another thing you might want to try is this...
Find a large parking lot and do some slow, tight (lock to lock) figure "8" turns in first gear. This sometimes has the effect of resetting the DPS.
