• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

upgrade 2010 RT rear passenger heated grips control to 2011!

well in prep for trip to Lamonts BBQ... did a quick fix (we broke the flip cap over the DIN passenger plug in the rear of the Spyder on trip to Spyderfest) After tons of searching, thanks to Carlo for help finding the part number.... also later found that it is in the parts catalog is the cap kit. So to do this fix had to remove the left side panels ...

anyway, while replacing the flip top protective cap I decided to upgrade the controls to the rear passenger heated grips to the 2011 type with the 2 LEDs. I had ordered the 2011 part and it was plug and play! just push the control from the back out. unplug the cord. snap the new one in again, in reverse, from the outside it snaps in. then plug back in wire plug.

oh yeah ... there is no multi step heated grips. its like the front either HI or LOW. read the manual or svc manual and it says push high or low to operate. pushing HI multiple times does nothing to get them hotter then to make you feel good. unless the grips are turning off somehow... pushing multiple times may reactivate the grips but that is all I can think of...

Part Number for those with 2010 RTs wanting to upgrade = 710002349
list price is $98.99

Was just reading your tip, and noticed you are just up the road from me I'm in Washington PA. I wanted to go to Spyder fest but just wasn't quite ready for that long a trip. Maybe next year.

GREAT find!!! I may add those... this fall. All of our grips a well heated right now thank you very much (high of 100 yesterday).

I asked my wife today if the heat was working on the hand grips. She said she did care because it was 110 degrees here today and anything heated is working.:roflblack::roflblack:

Pretty sure thats how they work -High-Low or -Off. They don't get anywhere as hot as the front. The Led light looks pretty at night though.:roflblack:

@ Scotty on the road now to Lamont so dont have the empty part bag ... the part is listed with NO PICTURE in the 2011 accessory catalog ... http://www.brp.com/FlipBooks/Catalogs/CanAmSpyder/en-US/PDF/PAC_Catalog_CanAmSpyder.pdf
bottom page 37 is the item part 219400315

@fastfraser without the lights you wonder at night when its cold if you hit the button correctly or not as they take a while to heat up .. so its very nice to have an indicator. would have done as Rodger did on his mod of adding an LED but I was lazy and this was a 10 second update for the $$$ was worth it plus no extra wiring required. they may not get as hot as front but for those with early build 2010s there were issues with the grips they put in not getting hot at all. we had our replaced under warranty. thanks to Carlo and the Kurt from BRP letting us know at Spyderfest
