I bought the parts to replace the old pins/clip to the new (2012) brass barrow and dome head screws. Doing this has almost completely eliminated the windshiled rattle I had while driving on rough roads or the likes and it eliminated the chatter I get as it goes up and down. I think what the difference is that the brass barrow still rotates smoothing in the mounting arms but the screw heads actually cinch down against the brackets. There is a black plastic bushing that presses into each side of the arms and when the screws are tightened they take up the slack and act as bearing surface.
The parts cost about $40 for the brass barrow and screws but my dealer did not know that you only need to order 3 screws as the brass section already has a screw installed on one end so it should cost a bit less as each .20 cent screw sells for seveal dollars through BRP. Now here is the crappy part....I thought I would order replacement bushings but they are $7 a piece and you need 6 of them so $42 + tax for 6 pieces of plastic. They sell a simular part at my hardware store for .19 cents each...lol. I cancled the order of course. So I am looking for a supplier of these bushing and in the mean time the old ones are working fine.
The next time I have the dash off I will check the lower ends of the arms to see what can be done below to reduce or eliminate the loose fit there as that would complete eliminate the rattle problem.
This is something that should be done under warranty but if that is too much to ask they could package the parts as an update that we can buy and not have to buy each part individually.
