There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Updated Windshield Mount Hardware

I bought the parts to replace the old pins/clip to the new (2012) brass barrow and dome head screws. Doing this has almost completely eliminated the windshiled rattle I had while driving on rough roads or the likes and it eliminated the chatter I get as it goes up and down. I think what the difference is that the brass barrow still rotates smoothing in the mounting arms but the screw heads actually cinch down against the brackets. There is a black plastic bushing that presses into each side of the arms and when the screws are tightened they take up the slack and act as bearing surface.

The parts cost about $40 for the brass barrow and screws but my dealer did not know that you only need to order 3 screws as the brass section already has a screw installed on one end so it should cost a bit less as each .20 cent screw sells for seveal dollars through BRP. Now here is the crappy part....I thought I would order replacement bushings but they are $7 a piece and you need 6 of them so $42 + tax for 6 pieces of plastic. They sell a simular part at my hardware store for .19 cents each...lol. I cancled the order of course. So I am looking for a supplier of these bushing and in the mean time the old ones are working fine.

The next time I have the dash off I will check the lower ends of the arms to see what can be done below to reduce or eliminate the loose fit there as that would complete eliminate the rattle problem.

This is something that should be done under warranty but if that is too much to ask they could package the parts as an update that we can buy and not have to buy each part individually.

I found your post to be most interesting. I wasn't aware that there is a difference in mounting hardware between the 2010 and 2012 RT. Still not sure of which parts you're talking about. Would it be possible to post some pictures of the parts involved? Or,,, maybe provide the part numbers and I could look at the parts diagram and identify them.

With reference to the new mounting Pins etc for the Spyder RT Windshield

This is what I found out :-

Ref the new pivot pins

I have managed to find out the following :

While searching through the parts catalog on-line at the BRP site the only windshield related hardware I could find that the part number changed between 2010 and 2012 was:

2010 -
#22-retainer pin - 705003294 1 ea.
#23-retainer pin - 705003295 2 ea.
#24-circlip - 705600272 3 ea.

2011 - Same as 2010

2012
#22 - retainer pin - 705005974 1 ea.
#23 - retainer pin - 705005973 2 ea.
#24 - hexalob screw -250000565 6 ea.
#24a-windshield rubber bumper 705005666 (was on list but could not find in parts breakdown)

You may just want to check with your local Can-Am dealer just in case I missed anything

I had my dealer order them and they have been fitted to my 2010 Spyder RT-S SE5 Model and they do improve the windshield holding it much more secure

Hope this help

Guys
Thanks for doing the "heavy lifting" on this little rebuild! Finding the part numbers makes it a whole lot easier to sound as if we know what we're doing!
I would guess that these are wear items, and we'll all be looking for parts sources for them eventually...

Personally, I wouldn't try bending the bracket, but would suggest trying these

Hi, I put new pins and i have the same rattle. Maybe putting a shim

There is also a spacer or SLEEVE (as BRP calls it) that also goes with the new hardware, tho it all has to be ordered seperately. I'd suggest trying them before trying to bend the bracket, as the bracket seems to be made of cast aluminum which I would be afraid would crack or break. Installing the new hardware along with the SLEEVES seemed to have worked well for us :thumbup:Good Luck ;)

hi,

i know the sleeve was 8$ each i need 6. i don't want to be robbering.

i've have some o-ring nylon. try with it.

Hi,
Mickay :p

Don't buy it. Will find something less expensive. Have a look to Add-tronic store , a lot of electronics parts, like switch, knob, resistance, diode, sleeve check the size of the sleeve....Thanks:banghead:
