• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Update on steering.

I have put over 2,000 miles on my bike since the DPS and torque angle sensor got changed and have had no problems. That would include two driving snow storms, a week straight of 25 - 30 mph winds with gusts up to 50 mph; 95% of that direct crosswind, and wildly varying temperatures from 90F to 29F.

One thing I have noticed is that if I try and straighten the handlebars out to soon after I start the engine, I don't have steering assist. As in, press the start button, engine barks, and I try to straighten the handlebars. I looked once and RPM was around 900. Evidently the DPS gets it's power from a bus tied to engine running? If this bike has such a thing? I finally have a manual, but haven't dug into the wiring diagrams yet. Whatever, duplicated it consistently so know it is tied to the engine needing to be at least running at idle.

No one wants to have problems. But no matter what you do they will come to at least some.

The good news is when someone gets the problem fixed right the 1st time. Very glad to hear it. Ride safe and enjoy! :ohyea:

At 900 rpm the magneto is not putting out enough juice to operate the DPS.

Oh yeah!

Very glad to hear you got the Spyder back and have been logging a lot of trouble free miles.

:congrats:

To the tune of 400 mi a week!:2thumbs: And that's if I don't do anything but ride to work and back. But I find myself looking for excuses to do other things...."Hey honey, ya need me to run to Walgreen's after work? Really, I don't mind at all!"

I hear you loud and clear on that one! Continue having fun, and ryde safe.

Definitely makes those running around chore more inviting. Especially when gas price is high.

Your Spyder should never idle at 900. Spec is 1400 rpm. If it is idling this low, there is a problem, possibly a fouled spark plug, or a faulty ECM, among other things. It will also not charge at all under these conditions, draining the battery, instead. I'd see my dealer if I were you.
