People that know me on Facebook already know this but last week I was hit head on by a car while riding my F3 home from the dealer. I was heading west bound on a two lane road and a car was waiting in the east bound lane to make a left turn. A second car came up fast and slammed into the back of the first car, climbed up the first car's left rear quarter panel and veered into my lane. Nothing I could do to avoid it. I was launched off the bike, landed on the second car's windshield, and rolled off onto the ground. The last thing I remember is the impact, then I woke up laying on the ground.
Miraculously, I have no broken bones, no internal injuries, and no concussion. I attribute that to wearing the proper gear; it wasn't ATGATT (I was wearing regular jeans and fingerless gloves) but it was almost. I also attribute it to God saying "it's not your time, I have something else for you to do." I've got some road rash, bruises, and bruised ribs but all things considered, I'm in pretty good shape.
The kid that hit me accepted the blame and was ticketed by the police at the scene.
The bike is obviously a wreck. I had it barely a year and only had 4700 miles on it. Once I recover and the insurance settles I'll figure out what to replace it with. (BTW, ignore the brown all over the front of the bike. It's paint as I had stopped to pick up a gallon at Home Depot on the way.)
