• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Unraveled the oil filter confusion

A few days ago I posted a thread to find the correct part numbers for the il filters and associated parts for the RT Limited SE5. I posted in the RT shop talk board but today I learned that the same information is applicable to all of the SE5 Spyders so I'm posting this in the "all models" board. Below is what I posed and the response received from SpyRyd.

Anyone have the BRP part numbers for the two oil filters and seal kits needed for the SE5? I can't seem to find them on the BRP site or through searching here on the forum. I only want to buy filters and the seal kits, Don't need oil so I don't want the full BRP change kit. I also checked the sponsors sites but nothing clearly states part numbers or if it is the new transmission filter as I have the extended transmission filter mod on my Spyder. Baja Ron does not have the new transmission filter.

SpyRyd Provided these numbers.

Oil Filter P/N = 420956747
Trans Filter P/N = 219800258 (filter cover kit that includes filter and new cover)
Crush Washers P/N = 420250640 and 705500506
O-Ring P/N = 420430920 and 420650500

Today I tried to order what I needed and kept coming up with all sorts of different numbers which I had trouble sorting out. And, I couldn't find find the new transmission filter without the new cover. Since I had the mod done by the dealer I didn't need the cover. I ended up calling BRP and even they were confused. :dontknow: Part of my confusion was cleared up when I finally figured out that not only was there a new larger transmission filter, but there was also a new (same size) engine oil filter. I also learned the part number for the new transmission filter is 420256454. However, it is not available from anybody! The only way to get it is to buy the kit with the cover, P/N 219800258. I learned this from poking around on Google and discovered the attached service bulletin which explains everything.

In looking to order the parts after I sorted out all the right numbers I had this related funny thing happen. When searching for the 420250640 crush washer one of the vendors had multiple listing of the same part number come up. One of them was the crush washer for the SeaDoo. It was 69¢. All of the others (same part number and package) were $1.99. :dontknow: Guess which one I ordered?

This is why a number of owners simply kept the original transmission filter cover and continue to use the original size aftermarket filters.

They are of very high quality and there have never been any issues with the aftermarket filters, just the original OEM BRP filters.

After Mkt OIl Filters?

Again, Newbie here and sorry if I am causing repeats, but if you don't mind, which after market filters fit. Would this contravene the warranty? Also, in another topic I read something about wheels falling off? Could this be? To me that sounds very unlikely but I ask only because there is a rubbing/scraping sound coming from my left wheel when I turn sharply. At first I just accounted it to be brake pads settling in. Any advice?
