Unidentfied Noise on 2017 F3L

O.K., I need help (again). I finally got my LOUD muffler problem resolved by installing a
Harley ultra Guide muffler. Can still hear my exhaust (quieter with NO bark) but gave notice
of a possible problem that I was unaware of till things got quieter.

There is a noise coming off the left rear area of the bike that I think could be an axle bearing.
I can only hear it in the 40 to 50 mph range and is a whining sound and is very noticeable.

Any thoughts, opinions or experience would be greatly appreciated.

I also have it on mine only I would decribe it as howl. 40 to 50 mph

Are you sure it's not just belt noise from the belt meshing on the rear sprocket? If a dab of belt lube on the teeth of the sprocket makes the noise go away, that's likely your problem. Check the belt tension, but if it's OK, your only option is belt lube.... and it'll only work for a short while before wearing off, & it'll wear off quicker in the wet or whenever you wash your Spyder. :thumbup:

Did you check the front sprocket ? Look for rust on the splines .

Has the belt got the proper gap off of the rear flange?

Thanks!! Gives me a place to start. Never even thought about belt gap.
Dealer said he had not seen/heard anything on this.

Mine was also riding the flange when new. And my dealer is a ROLO laser alignment dealer. You think they'd have it figured out.

Don't believe everything (or maybe anything) your dealer tells you. In a weak moment, I decided to have a local dealer check the alignment and tension of my belt. When I rode it home I had horrible vibrations and noise. Looked at the belt and it was hard against the inner flange and the belt was way overly tensioned. I called the dealer who said they "adjusted it by the book". When I told them it was wrong the response was "then just fix it yourself". I did.

So, our 2015 F3 has the same type of noise, after reading these coments, I have a question, how much gap should there be between the belt and flange of the rear sprocket? On ours, there is no gap. Thanks in advance...Clint

I believe the spec is 2-5mm. Best way to measure for us non-professional mechanics it to have it ride off the inner flange about the distance of the thickness of a credit card...… After learning the process and doing it a bazillion times, it does become easier to do.....
