• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ultimate seat - issue

:agree: If we're already like this now; can you imagine how grumpy everyone will be in February?? :yikes:

I've missed this entire exchange . . . I spent the afternoon in the garage, sitting on Topper and making motorcycle sounds . . . is it Spring, yet? :yikes:

Ultimate seats and Corbins cost way too much to have to stick something on the seat so you won't slide off. And how tacky (pun intended) would that look on your $1,000 seat to have a non skid cabinet liner stuck to it.

Wazoo, my .02 is send the seat back for a refund if it isn't comfortable for you. Good luck

:agree: Ann. Only someone with more money than brains would spend that kind of money on a seat and have to add something on top of it.. Send it back.

Holly and I tried a Corbin seat and it was the biggest piece of :cus: seat. Every time I hit the brake Holly would slide forward and crash into me. It only lasted a few short rides on my Spyder before I removed it and we found it wasn't anymore cushy on our tushy than the stock seat.

 You didn't LIKE it, when she hugged-up closer to you???
I always thought that was the reason why we wanted so much braking power! :2thumbs:

Seat Issue-

Has anyone had an issue with sliding while seated on the Ultimate seat? I had no issues with the stock seat but I slide forward when braking hard and backward when accelerating. If so, does anyone have any ideas on reducing the slide without making the seat sticky to the touch.

Wazoo-
We're sorry to hear that you are having this issue with the seat. We have hundreds of seats out there for RT's without people bringing up this issue. I would have asked the same as others have with "what have you cleaned/treated it" with. But as you stated, there hasn't been anything. I've talked to our Tech and Des and since we haven't had this issue brought to our attentions before, we really don't have a 'quick fix' solution.

Ride safe,

Dave

My stock seat with an AirHawk R lets me ride, all day, in comfort . . . and for considerably less cost than a replacement seat. The only trick is getting the inflation right for you . . . and their directions are very good. It took me a few hundred miles, but once I found the right place, I fell in love with it.

Every Ultimate and Corbin seat that I have sat on makes me slide forward too so I stick with my vinyl BRP Comfort Seat. I don't even have to be braking and they make me slide. Have you asked Ultimate what they suggest?
I find it interesting that you and I ride more than anyone else out there and yet we are content with the regular BRP seats without the fancy seat expense....

My "iron butt" days are far behind me . . . I used to think nothing of hoping on to my 350cc bike and riding from Arkansas, where I was stationed, to Mom and Dad's in Syracuse, NY, only stopping for gas, sandwiches, and coffee - but that was almost 50 years ago! :yikes:

I don't know if I'm older and wiser, or just became a wimp in my dotage, but comfort has become increasingly important to me, when riding. nojoke

Resolution - but the search continues

Ultimate took back the seat and reinstalled my stock seat--all very professional and accommodating. As soon as I sat on the stock seat it reinforced my conclusion that the Ultimate seat was far more comfortable and provided much better support that the stock seat. My comfortable riding time with the Ultimate seat was much much longer. However I can not ignore my issue that started this thread (given the low response to my initial inquiry I cannot discern if the sliding was more attributable to my physique and how it affects the forces of gravity/inertia or whether I am perhaps just more picky or attentive than the vast number of other satisfied customers).

So, any recommendations on another seat vendor. I seem to recall in another thread someone that mentioned another seat vendor based on the west coast--anyone recall and or have any experience with the as yet undisclosed vendor?

slippery seat

i just put a used corbin seat on my gs last week. rode it for a little while on saturday, no sliding. rode it for a couple hours on sunday and i'm sliding all over the place. the only difference was saturday i wore older jeans, sunday i wore newer jeans. what does all that mean? the hell if i know. maybe the older jeans somehow grip the leather better.:dontknow:
i wonder if mink oil would help. it IS kind of sticky. any ideas?

Funny I thought of whether the jeans I wear might be the cause--I only wear old jeans to ride, so doesn't sound like there is a correlation. But I like the way you think.

he does
