U-Fit brake rod clevis; internal dimension question?

Hello Spyder Riders,

I'm in the process of machining a threaded adapter that will allow me to adjust the length of my #3 U-Fit brake rod. I would like to install this adapter as close to the aft rod-end clevis as possible. My adapter has 1/4 inch diameter rod sections that will fit the internal dimensions of the U-fit tube. My plan is to cut out a section of the U-Fit tube and insert my adapter and weld the adapter rods into place. I'm guessing that BRP's clevis has a rod section that extends into the tube for some unknown length and I don't want my adapter rods interfering with this section of the clevis internal rod.

My question is, does anyone know how far the U-Fit clevis rod extends into the factory tube?

How I shortened the brake rod.

I cut the brake rod in two and measured the internal distance. The clevis rod end extends about 3/8 of an inch into the internal dimension of the rod.

I choose to thread the outer diameter of the rod with a 1/2" x 13 tpi. die and join the rod back together with a "ready-rod" long 1/2" nut and a jam nut on each end. I can adjust the length of the rod to my desire and jam the nuts to hold the setting. It works very well.
