• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Two up ryding is Twice the fun. (long write up)

If your wife/girlfriend or husband/boyfriend has not ridden with you yet, and they don't

want to or have no interest. Do what ever it takes to get them to ryde.

In my case my wife said we had to have a living trust before she would get on. period.

She had been hounding me for about half of the last 20 years. She

thought that would be enough to keep her off the saddle.

Well I started getting her gloves, helmets, jackets, I use the plural cuz everything I ordered

was the wrong size cuz she didn't wanna even go try it on so I would guess on the size.
willy_nilly.gif

She sees me accumulating the stuff and says well where are we with the "Trust"?, I told

her I was still interviewing different attorneys, and trying to find a fair price so it wouldn't

cut into too many accessories.;)

Well low n behold we go see the attorney last month and he draws up all the paperwork and

two weeks later we go to his office to get it signed and notarized.:2thumbs:

We start practicing (2 times) with her on the back. First time we go about 3 1/2 miles

on easy road. Next time we try it out for about 15 miles and on the freeway. The Byke

is very stable, and I electronically increase the stiffness in the rear shocks to max.

Front shocks were already at 5:thumbup:

We ryde around Santa Monica tourist section and my wife can't get over all the gawkers

and people pointing and taking photos of us two up.I tell her just wait

till we have our dog ryding with us.
lol.gif

During the ryde around town she tries out her iphone with ear buds so she can listen to

her recorded ipod shows. It works ok, as long as I don't play the music too loud through

the external speakers. Also tried out directly from the bikes stereo and that was OK too.

Spyderaccessory007.jpg

We have the c/b comm center but I am awaiting the can-am hybrid ST helmets. Got a late

start ordering because no one had any to try on. When I bought the Nolan trilogy

helmets I got her the wrong size and luckily ended up selling it to a friend. Then

couldn't get matching helmets cuz everyone was sold out. Didn't wanna repeat that this

time. She has gotta go with me to the store to get it before we order it.

Trying to get the front Jaw face that goes with it is even more difficult. Back-ordered

till Oct. If anyone knows where I can pick up a solid Black and also vented one.

. I would much appreciate it.

Well back to the Ryde:

I make reservations (non refundable, so she won't change her mind at the last

minute) at Embassy Suites in San Diego, CA. We are scheduled to leave Saturday

morning at 7:30 am with a trip down the coast that starts off on the freeway then

along Pacific Coast Highway, then Freeway, then back along the Coast.

Just 6 days before our trip I get a Limp home message on my cluster that has me

nervous and i try to diagnose the source code and somehow wipe off any history

of the fault code that was displayed so that when I take it to the dealership

there is nothing displayed or even in history for BUDS to pick up.. I ryde the back

for another 50 miles and no low oil pressure/limp code displayed. So I tell my wife

that just like a car, that a check engine light was triggered and it probably is

a false alarm. She is a little concerned but i reassure her there are dealerships all

the way down and we have a 100 mile free motorcycle tow.

We pack everything the night before and i gotta tell ya can-ams luggage is so useful

because being hard luggage it is very difficult to over-pack. I don't have the side

luggage yet but my wife used some soft bags that worked after she removed some items so it would fit.

I plotted the entire trip out before hand with plenty of stops for her to stretch her

legs and to take the leisurely pace that I promised her. This worked extremely well

with the Garmin 660 zumo as I had about 10 different addresses preprogrammed in

and as we would get to that destination I would put the next one in and be able

to tell my wife that we were just 30 minutes away from the next. So the trip that

could be done non stop in about 2 hours I planned for 5 and we got down in 4

hours and when we arrived at 11:30 even our room was ready. so we unloaded

the suit case and all the compartments and took off for Coronado Island to meet

some friends.

I wish we had taken photos, because the weather was perfect and

the scenery gorgeous . Going over the bridge was a spectacular view but ,

I forgot to, ask my wife since both her hands were firmly grasped

around the hand rails at all times. Maybe next time, as we become

more experienced! I do have lots of gas station photos ...

Even during our two times we practiced before hand around town, I felt the most proud

that we were doing something adventurous. The grin on my face was just so fantastic

it is hard to describe. I have never been so focused and alert, and it didn't diminish

the enjoyment I was experiencing, only enhanced it. I hope everyone has the same

feeling. It is just too good!

We all had a great time. Many of the Hotels are pet friendly and the one we stayed at

had underground Valet parking so the bike was very secure and i put the travel cover

on her so the hotel staff might not be tempted to sit on her while we were asleep

The Ryde back home was much quicker because my wife is not one for seeing things

twice so after going halfway up the coast she was fine with the freeway but

not a big fan yet of the carpool lane.

I did learn that the passenger foot rest was probably set too low as my wife had

some discomfort when we got home. kinda like a hip pointer. It went away after 1 1/2 days

We are already planing our next trip to Las Vegas and my wife says to me, will we

have the trailer by then? Well I am gonna have to get busy negotiating the trailer/hitch

and hook up combo, and I see allot more trips in our future.

My wife never reads these forums, but I just

want to say this to her. " I love you, and I am

so proud of the trust you placed in me to

take us safely on this journey together!"

Love, Steve

:spyder2: On. Why not head up to the owners event in Chicago ?

Owners event, heck even the non owners event on the west coast conflicts with the Abba Fest concert we are going to.

My wife is Swedish and a big abba fan, not a true biker :doorag:yet.

Thanks all for the nice comments!

That is such an awesome story! Thank you for sharing.

My husband and I are in the process of getting a Spyder. The only thing holding us up is we need to offload a truck first.

I'm really looking forward to traveling with our three dogs. We've looked at the dog trailers and hope to eventually get one but I really wanted the Yorkie to travel on the bike with me. What a wonderful surprise when I saw your little dogs face in the carrier riding on the bike with you. What kind of carrier are you using for her?

Maybe one day we'll meet up in the middle of the country at an event or something. Us from Virginia and you from California.

Thanks again for sharing!

omg lol, look at her little sunglasses. That is so adorable. I'm going to check out that site right now. I really appreciate your reply. I have two dogs already but the little one that I want to carry on the bike with us will join our home next Thursday. She will be 8 weeks old then. I don't even have her yet and I'm spoiling her rotten already.

Happy Trails

Lisa

Tell your wife you are great and to take advantage of it. would love a trip like that on our spyder but it is my husband that is the problem
Great post.

Bags

Question on the bags - did you buy can am bags that fit in the front & back? I want to buy bags, but could not tell if they fit in the compartments. Any guidance is appreciated.

I am looking forward to my first road trip. I have been on several with my husband - as a passenger. He has a Harley touring bike.

Great write up. I showed it to my wife. She didn't really like riding on the RS bike very much. After we test rode and bought the RT, she is suddenly very excited about riding/driving the new Spyder. I think this new one is going to make her a biker babe.

Very nice write up TicketBait. :2thumbs:
thanks for the kind words

That was a great story. :congrats: to the both of you,
Happy Ryding :2thumbs:

thank you All for the nice things, you have said. We are going ryding together tomorrow to the Hollywood Bowl

Yes the bags are by can-am and fit each compartment perfectly. There is a thread

about hardliner bags that i put a link to where I got mine and pictures of the side bags too. I will be

getting the side ones also once I have the trailer next month
