There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Two brother exhaust and milage

I installed a two brothers exhaust on my Spyder a couple months back.
I did it for the added horsepower, the sound, and the reported gas milage increase many have reported. While I definitely like the sound and the power, my milage actually dropped about 3 mpg. Does anyone have any advice on this matter? I do not seem to have any leaks near the seal.

INSTALLING

since installing the TWO BROTHERS mufflers, r u turn'n the right-hand-grip a lot more in the CCW direction...? :gaah: that may be what's kill'n u'r mileage...

My guess for the mileage drop,
Would be that the exhaust noise is so intoxicating your extra heavy with the throttle.

I have had the Two Brothers Carbon Fiber exhaust on my 2012 RT now for a several months and have found the following.
1) it's about 20#s lighter than stock. 7#s in weight loss equals around 1 HP gain
2) much less heat generated by the exhaust body up to the passenger or heating into the right cargo box. You can actually place your hand on the exhaust after a few hours ride.
3) shifting is definetly quicker from first to second, more HP?
4) if you are concentrating on mpg and riding with that in mind you do get more mpg. I on the other hand like the sound of cams and valves screaming for their life! But even with that in mind I do think I am getting a little better mpg.
5) while I still have some black carbon deposits on the tail pipe it is much less than with the original exhaust. I hope this means that while it is a less rich mixture it is not too lean.
6). With the smaller size of the Two Brothers exhaust it is a lot easier to service the parking brake, get air into the rear tire and clean that rear of the bike.

Two Bros Exhaust

Do you also have a tuner on your Spyder, like a Power Commander? When loading the map for Two Brothers exhaust on an RS/GS it actually leans the mixture at higher RPM, hence less fuel. However I have to agree with the other posts, it sounds so good you want to twist the throttle hard and often!

On the RT you don't need a tuner the computers do the tuning. I never got great fuel mileage on my 2010 RT but I now get about 3 mpg better with the Two Bros. Justin, (Arrmihardies) you were getting pretty good mileage before you installed the Two Bros. compared to me and now we seem to be getting about the same. But as the others have said the sound and the added hp are so much fun that any increase in gas mileage is just icing on the cake.

I was getting around 28-29, now it feels like I'm getting 24-25 a lot more often.

And you didn't add a tuner?? :dontknow: It's curious that the mileage would change if the fuel mapping didn't.
Or did it?
If the RT's systems compensated for the better exhaust flow...

How much if any does your gas formulation change out there in Nevada from summer into "winter" seasons?
Might this explain what you are seeing?

I have the ram air intake and the two brothers by cowtown and my mileage did increase about 2 mpg without and 3 mpg with trailer in tow.

Good point! This time of the year; those computers are throwing more fuel into the mix to compensate for the cooler and denser air!

I used to get 24 - 26 mpg now I get 28 - 30 with the Two Bros. I haven't noticed any change in mpg since the weather got cooler here. Justin, Joe said lay off the throttle and you'll get better mileage. :roflblack:
