There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Turn signals; parking brake

Desert Spyder

Has anyone ever modified their bike so their turn signal is also visible to the driver?

I'm usually pretty good at canceling my signals, however, once in awhile I might bump the signal switch by accident and not notice it on the dashboard....especially during the daylight when there is a glare on the screen. It would be convenient to have something on the inside of the mirror arm.

Secondly, what's with this so called parking brake?

I only have 3000 miles on the bike and it won't brake on level ground let alone an incline. I carry a little block with me in my $100 CanAm fuel tank bag (which is another story). I'm thinking of drilling a hole in the block and inserting a cord so I can snatch it out. I tried adjusting the cable with the two stop nuts to no avail. Is there another adjustment?

You'll need to remove the parking brake lever from the rear caliper and reposition it to get more adjustment.

Without knowing more about your parking brake behavior, you might try what I did. I sprayed the key/spring with oil. That is the key that drops into the teeth on the plate to set your brake. The difference in setting and release is hard to believe. I can now set and release mine with one finger so it makes it a lot easier when sitting on the Spyder.

I installed this turn signal mod last summer, after taking several slight degree turns and forgetting to cancel the turn signal. I did not like the BRP turn signal display with the one bulb behind the two arrows. :cus: I just installed two red LED lights on the dash, hooked in parallel with the turn signals. These lights were purchased at radio shack. I also had to use two 1k-ohm resistors in series with each LED bulb, because it was too bright. Works for me.

Well to start off, it don't set the brake. I push down hard but nothing happens. I don't want to overdue it because a friend of mine who has one of the PE's broke his cable. I tried adjusting the cable with the set nuts and that didn't make any difference (it actually got worse). However, after reaching for the cable a couple times under the bike an re-hooking it, it got better. Can the cable get in a bind inside the liner?

And I will spray the key/spring... one finger? Wow!

Is the arm seated on a spline?
The arm is seated on a splined shaft. If you can't get enough adjustment with the cable, you will need to move the shaft a notch or two. I suggest you mark it first. If your parking brake is fully engaged with just a couple of clicks at the pedal, and it still won't hold, see your dealer. Something is wrong!

Turn signals cancel after a turn or after 30 seconds.

If I forget, it turns off after 30 seconds. No biggie. If 30 seconds is too long for ya, I guess if you have NMN mudflap lights and connect em to your NMN tripple play, you will see the mudflaps flash and remember to turn it off.

But I think, that fact that they turn off anyways, there is no need to put any kind of mod on your dash or mirror arm. But thats just me.

saw some that BMWgene has on his spyder

I was riding with BMWGene over the weekend. He has a set of lights which sit just below the factory turnsignals. You may want to ask him where he got his. Jerry
