• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tupperware Finish

Is the tupperware on the Spyder and RT622 painted or is the color molded into the part when it is made?

What kind of paint do you use to paint the tupperware?

Thanks
JT

Tupperware finish

When I bought my RT it was used and had a shallow nose scratch which showed black material under the finish so I believe it might a gel coat finish but am not sure.

They are painted with a paint conditioned for use on plastic much the way plastic car bumpers are painted. There are special additives you can add to paint for use on flexible plastics.

Be careful when sanding

When prepping for new paint, be careful when wet sanding. It is easy to expose the black underneath, especially on the edges and corners.

What kind of paint do you use? I usually use Dupont paints on metal... I think one place in town has PPG too.

John ... Is there a story that you'd like to tell us?

Bob, not really just Paladin from the other forum got me to wondering and I do plan on painting the RS622 this winter to match the Spyder a bit better... maybe paint 1/2 to match the Spyder and 1/2 to match the GL1800. Wadduthink?

Duane's a sneaky bugger.. He finds ways to talk us into projects that we'd otherwise just back away from...
Actually; what if you painted the 622's lids to match your RT? The darker Orbit Blue on the bottom would kind of seem like a natural transition...
Just a thought... ;)

I was worried that you might have had an "Oh-No!" moment, and had repairs to effect.. :yikes:

That's a good idea Bob, and if I don't like it then I just paint the rest to match. At least if I don't paint the body I don't have to worry the rock guard peel and never unstick stuff.

I just ordered the pack (primer - color - clear coat) to repaint a Pure Magnesium trunk cover to Full Moon Silver.

Will disclose all after it arrives and if I don't end up painting my nostrils shut.

Did you order from uspaint? I see they have all the Honda colors, I wonder if they have BRP colors in stock?

I do drag out my hot sweaty particulate mask when painting... as I hate cleaning out all that junk from my nose.
