Tuning/flashing ecu

I've called every "performance" shop within about 200 miles of me. The vast majority don't flash, or if they do flash they don't mess with can ams and especially rykers (too niche apparently). Many said they only do japanese bikes or harleys. I also talked to some owners of some dyno places. Dynojet has a list online of dyno centers, flash people, and mobile dynos. no one within 200 miles of me does the ryker.

I looked at the unit, it is $399, but there is a learning curve because there isn't a custom tune for my exhaust online, and i'm not 100% sure on what I should and shouldn't be doing.

Anyone flash (tune) their own ryker? I saw a video online of a guy flashing his ecu, but he had two mods I don't have. I started reading their manual.

Thanks. Link doesn't say how much it is. I looked at the ryker pdf they had, but I didn't see any tunes to download. Guess I'll call them on Monday.

Just for info, Beginner………..No, you don’t actually download tunes with the Monster flash. I believe it costs around $600usd, but that’s just a rough guess. You send them your ECM, they reflash it in one of a few modes, with slight modifications depending on exactly what you are after, and then ship it back to you. In Aus, they can either open the ECM and load the flash permanently, or they can just down load the flash which runs the risk of the dealer overwriting it if they have to “reset” your ECM for some reason. I assume Monster offer the same option. Of course, you can also take the Spyder/Ryker in to Monster if you feel so inclined, and they can upload the flash “while you wait”.:thumbup:

Thank you for the information. I think I will head towards dynojet then. With dynojet you can store several different tunes, and make custom tunes yourself. Dynojet's powervision already has several tunes for the ryker that you can download. I guess I will take the time to tweak it myself, or at least make enough phone calls and emails that I get the swing of it.

Just bear in mind that the flash from Monster (or ECUXtreme out here), has been created by tuning specialists with many years of working on engine performance and is tailored to get the absolute best out of the Spyder/Ryker engine, Beginner, and that it has been working very well for years. That was a major selling point for me, rather than relying on maps from someone who may not be as “in tune” with the particular nuances of the CanAms. Been there, done that…….never again. :thumbup:

Well .. Hopefully, Dyno Jet has some capable tuners who built their base maps. In the case of a PV3, what your getting from Dyno Jet are base maps. Also, If buying a PV3 from Fuel Moto, your buying a tuner from one of the best tuners in the USA. Hell, Jamie Long co-developed the original Power Vision with Dyno Jet. Once you connect your PV3 to your bike and let it read your ECU, it learns your stock map. Now you can go out and data log the info from YOUR machine. You can then send the logs to Fuel Moto, and they will build a map based off readings from YOUR machine. I have no doubt that Monster has a wonderful tune. But you get the same tune as EVERY Spyder buyer who downloads their flash. I like the fact that my tune was built around my bike and riding style. My exhaust, my intake, my data logging and most importantly, my motor. YMMV ...

I sent them an email, but their list makes it seem that they don't mess with can am. Mainly harleys it looks like. They have a buttload of tunes for those.

We do not have fuel moto tunes for the Ryker, we would depend on Dynojet for map support.

That's certainly possible, as they likely haven't tuned a Ryker. When you buy a PV3 from FM, you get their full support. That means they'll build a map for you at no additional cost. Buy the PV3, connect to get a stock map (stk.), and then download the map from DynoJet. If DJ has no map available, no big deal. That will be a decent baseline map. Then, go out riding and do multiple data logs with the PV3 connected. Save the logs, connect to your PV software on your PC and download. Then send these files to Fuel Moto. They will then build a map based off your machines data and send it to you for downloading to your machine. Sounds like a lot, but pretty simple once you do it a couple of times.
