• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Trunk sping

Got tired of having to hold the key to open the trunk. This fix took 5 minutes and 80 cents. Ace Hardware had the spring.:ohyea:

Yet another version of the trunk spring mod. Looks good. One thing I noticed about the RT at Lamonster's place was that they redesigned the trunk latch to a horizontal pin and latch that pops the trunk every time.

I bought the #115 spring at ACE. It's about 4 in long and I cut it about the 60% point. The long piece works great on the trunk and the short one works just right on the seat. Easy as pie!

:agree: I have a different set up as well (and only spent 80 cents!). I got to check out Lamonster's RT-S and the trunk pops just like bjt says.

This mod works great and only cost me 50 cents! It should have been OEM! It fits perfectly down INSIDE so it's not visible like the other spring mods.

Trunk and seat latch...

I did the trunk latch spring trick and works just fine, popping every time.

I guess I got carried away :D , because I did the same trick on the seat latch, but used a stronger spring.

It pops the seat open and the lifting mechanism (air-jack?) takes advantage of the momentum and completes the opening sequence

. . . . sounds like fast dismount to me. :D

Hi there Randy!
You keep posting your pics (over and over) and it still seems like no one appreciates them! :gaah: Do you feel unloved?! :(

It's OK...I still like you! (and Bonnie...and both the doggies!) :D It was good to see you again at Lamonster's BBQ.

This is a very cool, useful and easy-install looking mod!!

I see some of you have used the same mod for under the seat.

Is the male pin under the seat the SAME as the male pin in the trunk? e.g. Does the same type/size spring work on both the trunk and seat pins?

Thanks.

I used a slightly bigger / thicker spring for the seat. It was just a 'seat of the pants' calculation. :doorag:

Another instrument to use in these chores (for calculations) is the 'eyemeter', which also measures distances, weights, plumbness, power, stiffness, etc., etc. :D

And the Mom & Dad hardware store where I bought the springs had a huge sample-board with lots of options to choose from. :2thumbs:

Cool.

If you didn't have a thicker spring, would the spring used on your trunk, fit the seat pin?

Thanks

Probably yes, but it may not have had enough 'rebound' force to lift the weight of the seat... Again IMHO... :D

Total cost: US$0.35 plus my labor... :ohyea:

Appreciate

I appreciate it. That is the mod I used (Idea came from Rando) and it works very well, with no exposed springs.
