First off this was a true honor to ride with the ROAD WARRIORS.
My wife Diane and myself joined the road warriors in Lime Rock CT on Saturday. We also met some great people who like us wanted to show support. We drove to Bear Mountain NY and were greeted by the mayor and a full bagpipe band. You should have seen the faces of the these men and woman when the band played the stars and stripes everyone stopped. My wife cried. We stayed and talked with them. Then it was time to go home. As we drove home we both said lets join them tomorrow of the next leg. The next day we were joined by a few of my friends on Harleys they also wanted to join the warriors. There had to be about 25 Plus Bikes.
Now here starts the story. Craig the director of the warriors does a morning briefing. He says lets keep the group tight in formation stay close. Staggered spacing. Keep up the speed no gaps for cars. OK. We all say yes. He comes to me and asks if I would led the group up to the top of Perkins Memorial Drive. It was a clear day and I had mentioned that you could see the NYC skyline from the top of the mountain. Are you kidding me if he had asked me to lead the way off the Bear Mountain Bridge I would have jumped right away. What an honor. Myself and (VADER) Andy led the way to the top. I also asked Rick Simpson to join us he said he would hold traffic for us on the turn. Thank you RICK. We stopped in formation taking up most of the parking spots. You should have seen the faces of the bikers and the other people when we pulled up. We went to the edge of the mountain for a look of NYC. The solders got pumped up and we all took pictures. Craig said lets head back and get on the road. He asked Andy and myself to lead them back down and get us out to RT 17 and if we could block the traffic as we entered the circle to merge onto Route 17 . We did. As the group passed the support trucks honked the horn to signal all clear. We followed along with Rick. Let me tell you as we rode down the ramp it felt like we got launched off an aircraft carrier. 75 mph in the left hand lane whoosh we are off. We are all concentrating on staying in formation. Andy, Rick and myself are bring up the rear. We are working together taking turns moving cars to let the pack stay together. We don't want the leader Craig to reprimand us. My turn in the in the back my wife says there is a NY State Trouper coming behind us. He is on my tail. I look down Holy Sh#! 84 MPH and the pack is still going. I'm done. He pulls up on my right-side looks at me? And then smiles and gives the thumbs up sign still at 80+ MPH he makes his way all the way to the front to give the thumbs up to every rider. Are you kidding me. We get off at exit 104 Monticello there are spyders every where you look. And more and more on the road waiting to join us. Heading down route 42 what a sight. A Spyder freight train we all were a well oiled machine. But it all came to and end for some of us in Stroudsburg PA. We had lunch with the solders and said our goodbyes and well wishes. Thanks to Andy and Rick and one other spyder rider for joining us on the ride back. A day my wife and I will never forget.
So glad we joined the Spyder family. Thanks to all
