Trickle Charger

Since I cant seem to find my trickle charger (had a cheapo from Walmart), whats the best battery tender for my 14 RTS. I currently have it on a 12V charger. Its not dead but I heard if your bike since for a while the battery drains and wont start.

My lawn mower sat on a 12v charger all winter, seems to start OK. Just saying.

I use Battery Tenders....................they work great, I know there are other brands out there, but I'm not familiar with them.

Battery Tender Jr. That is what I used, had it plugged in all winter. Bought it from Amazon, I think $24 or something like that. My 13 STL came prewired for it so it was just plug it in & your done.

Well that's the one that somehow got misplaced, I blame the wife, oh well. Back to Walmart to buy another one. Wish there was an easier way to hook it up, taking those screws off is a pain.

yes; there is...
Move the right hand fuse that is in position 6, to position 7.
then, pick up an adapter that'll allow you to plug the Tender into the power port in the top trunk.

I'm slow, so by moving the fuse, I can plug a battery tender to the 6 volt in the trunk in the back? What does the switching the fuses do?

There is an easier way. When you buy your new battery Tender is should come with a quick disconnect cable that you attach to your battery and route to a convenient location on your bike. I have 3 of them and use them on my Spyder, Triumph, and S-2000. When they are parked they have the tender attached.

If it is: by having the fuse over in 6, it's only "hot", when the key is on...
moving it to 7, makes it hot all of the time! :thumbup:

something to consider...
I'm leaving mine with the fuse in 6, for the riding season; I keep my XM receiver plugged in during all of my riding opportunities...
It turns off, when I shut the bike down! :thumbup:
When Winter rears it's ugly head again; I'll move the fuse over, and THEN plug in my Tender.
