• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Travel Cover

I researched the forum and didn't really find what I was looking for so thought I would ask the question.

Is the cover that came with the 2011 RT Limited suitable or usable for traveling? I use it to cover the spyder when stationery but have not used it when towing on a trailer. :dontknow:

There have been varied opinions on that issue. I think the consensus was not to have the cover because of the scratching that the cover "could" make on your paint.

I don't think there is a descent cover for the spyder while trailering, the cover will flap in the wind no matter how while you tie it down and it will suffice scratch the spyder. You need a really soft classic car type cover then an outer cover.

I would not cover it but try to put a stone/chip guard of the front of the trailer. If I trailer my spyder anywhere I have the wife stand on the front of the trailer and deflect any stones. Only joking I'm not that mean, I welded a chair to the trailer so she can sit down while protecting the spyder.

No definitely not to be used while trailering your spyder . The cover does not fit tight enough and your spyder will suffer from a bad case of cover rash:yikes:.

The travel and outdoor covers are definitely not suitable for trailering. The custom cover may or may not be...there are differing opinions and the advertisements and warnings conflict on that subject. It is more sturdy than the others, and has additional tie-down points. My experience with cars indicates that there is no way to reliably tow a covered vehicle without sustaining paint or chrome damage eventually. Plastic windshields would be especially susceptible to damage. Why take a chance?...just get where you are going and wash the Spyder when you get there.

In the 2013 catalog BRP shows a custom cover for trailering the Spyder. Part number 219400173. Price listed at $224.99. Has a flannel liner for the windshield. Look on page 88.
