• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Transmission problem - code po826

Hopped on the :spyder: to make short trip to the grocery store. Got on the main drag and I got a check transmission scroll and engine light.
Same thing when I got back home. checked for codes and got P0826 on my display. :spyder:ran ok and shifted gears ok except for one time where it seemed to miss third. I hit the paddle again and it shifted.

I was going to go for a 100 mile trip later today. not sure now. any ideas? does this need to go back to the service dept, or is there something I can do w/ my limited wrenching skills?
Only out of the shop for 2 weeks...:gaah:

Last Saturday, I stopped at a friends house after riding the :spyder2:about an hour. The outside temp was probably about 99 heat index maybe 102, but :spyder2:only had 4 bars during ride
I am in central Texas for location purpose.
Anyway when I went to start the :spyder2:after about a 45 minute vist with my friend, when through the start-up mode, :spyder2:started, but a message scrolled across "check transmission". Bike would not go into ANY gear, and throttle would not rev over 1800. tried several different things. No luck. Finally called Granbury Motor Sports where I bought the :spyder2: and talked to the Tech.
He told me to turn the key off and on 3 times. Did it. Started the bike, message gone and bike went into gear.
He told me sometimes, not often the heat after a ride will not allow the computer to reboot to normal. The key trick will re-boot the computer. He said he had only seen this happen a few times. This is an FYI if it happens to you. And oh by the way, that Tech has my business for being so aware and knowledgeable of this great machine and all the workings of it.:2thumbs:
I POSTED THIS ON THE SHOP TALK. THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY AND NEVER APPEARED AGAIN. TRY IT:2thumbs:

I'll try it but don't think it's the same thing. I just went out to try it again and what it seems to be doing is showing the ck tranny display when I shift from 1st to 2nd under quick acceleration. Then, when I try to shift to 3rd, nothing happens. 2nd time I push the paddle it goes into third and the display and engine light goes off like there was no problem.
:dontknow:

Also, while it is hot here, my engine was cold the first time- only up to 2 bars when it happened.

Heat or no heat (COLD) it may sometimes but very rarely fail to return to normal. The computer may just need to re-boot which the key action may do.

key 3x seemed to work!

Well I ate lunch and went for a quick spin again after turning the key on and off 3 times, and I could not re-create the fault. So the re-boot seems to work/hold.

thanks DSQUARE!:bowdown::2thumbs:

Is the computer on this ryde windows based??:joke:

P0826 is the code for a "Shift Up/Down Switches) fault...basically your paddle shifter. It means the switches are out of range or there is a switch defect. The action to be taken is to check for disconnected switches or damaged wires. There is an extensive testing procedure in the shop manual to troubleshoot the problem. In the short run look at your connectors, to see that they are all fully seated and properly attached.

Thanks Scotty!
Somehow I knew you would come through what the code is.
For some reason it only occurred from 1st to 2nd; If I made past second I was good to go.:dontknow:

But when I opened that URL, symantics popped up and said I had aquired a virus.

Just trying to warn others!!!

Hmmm, glad I read all the way through the posting before clicking on the link now.

Is everything still good in Spyderville?

Not Again

well I got home from work and hopped on the :spyder:. didn't even get out of the driveway or reverse when i got the transmission fault again.
this time I got a new code to go along with.P0826
now I also have P0500

This is not good.
:chill:

Ok............... I came in wrote my little post, left a message w/ Carlo, and went again out for a little ryde. check transmission lite came on, and I had to shift (push the paddle) twice to get it into second. soon as I did, the engine light went off and so did the message. I drove to a parking lot and stopped, checked for codes - only got the p0826 this time, did the key off/on 3 times, and the code went away. drove it like a stole it. couldn't get it to come back on. While I was ryding, i remembered yesterday that I had cleaned my wheels. when I was cleaning the back one, which is a PITA, I had moved the :spyder:by hand several feet to get to places I couldn't reach before. maybe this caused to 500 code? as well as the P0826? dunno.:dontknow:
I'm going to make a point to ryde thru a few storms before I head to Gatlinburg in September tho just to see if my :spyder:wants to tell what else is ailing it!

You may want to double check the connections on your wheel sensors. I can't remember where I read it, but someone else was having some strange issues that were caused by this. I also think ryding it in the rain a few times to make sure it is okay would be a good idea. If you were here tonight you could have ridden it in a monsoon. It may be heading your way, so tomorrow could be a good day for testing.

Somehow, some way, something needs to be done to get your Spyder running well for you for a heck of a lot longer than 2 weeks at a time. :gaah:

Update

Got a call from Service Center. They are ordering a shift switch to fix the issue. They said they should get the part in by Tuesday.

Hoping that is the last issue for my :spyder:this year.

Really hoping to make it to SitS and THE BBQ.
