• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Going down the road, light turned yellow, tried to downshift and nothing happened. Braked to a stop, when the light changed, it was still in 4th and the throttle would not immediately respond, had to sneak up on it. Scary situation. Lucky for me I was within 5 miles of a dealer.

No codes, nothing on the screen. The service writer said he's never seen anything like that before. Yeah!!!!

Does your Spyder have the SE5 transmission? If so I found out it will not downshift while coming to a stop if you still have a little throttle input. This happened to me making a quick stop with some throttle input. I was in 4th and had to play with the downshift button to get it to downshift down to 1st. Did it eventually downshift or did it stay stuck in 4th?

Sorry, I have the SE 5. I played with it, tried to shift up and down, so did the service writer. I've got over 10,000 miles on it and this has never happened before. It'a at the dealer still in 4th.

Didn't check it but after my last ride I did and needed to add a few oz's. I'd ridden less than 50 miles. It seems to be using oil, I wouldn't think of taking a trip without a qt.

Went back to the dealer this morning. The oil level was a bit low, topped it off, nothing changed. Still in 4th.

They should be able to hook it up to BUDS and tell if the valves are working and if your pressures are where they need to be.

Manual shift of the se5 transmission.

There is a procedure for shifting the SE5 manualy with the engine off using a 13 mm wrench and is in my 2009 GS operators manual. I assume that this would likely work on the RT but I have no way of knowing for sure.
If you can shift it manualy the problem is not in the gear box and if it won't shift then it is inside. Thiis could help in finding the problem.
The pdf of all owners manuals are available on BRP's site.

Good luck

Thanks for your vote of confidence Lamonster. Just hate to be without it for the weekend, ryde planned Sunday, oh well.

Last year my 2010 RTS SE5 got stuck in 3rd gear and I could not even manually shift it down with the 13 mm wrench. It turned out to be a bad solenoid. Dealer had a heck of a time figuring it out though because the solenoid tested fine on the bench.

Just got a call that it's fixed. A nut worked loose on the shifting linkage or some such thing. I quite frankly didn't care, I just heard that it was fixed and working fine. Ain't it great when a plan comes together. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend of ryding, I plan on spending some time in the saddle for sure.
