There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Trailering my RTS

Has anyone used a 6' x 10' enclosed trailer with a ramp, for their RT-S?
I know the measurements are a little tight but did it work?
Did you back it in or go straight in?
Thinking on trailering to Spyderfest.
How many people trailer it there usually?
Thanks

Just measure the smallest opening in the trailer that you intend to use to be sure the spyder will fit (especially between the wheel wells)

If you trailer it ........................ front in first to prevent damaging the windshield (hauling it backwards and the wind pressure could damage the windshield.)

Quite a few folks trailer their Spyders to Spyderfest.

This is a 2015 Stealth 6 X 12 all aluminum trailer. Close but it fits just fine. Measure before you buy, as most 6 ft with a ramp door come up a bit short on the width. Combined weight 2300lbs. The distance between the door cables is the narrowest point.

I would not reverse in, I will say backing out is easier than going in.

The capacity of the tow vehicle dictates the size and weight of one's trailer choice. For me the 6 foot worked, the roomier 7 foot exceeded the towing capacity of my tow vehicle and would have required a trailer breaking system and some non existent wider mirrors.

I use a 5 1/2' X 10' open trailer and it works very well. Just have to be careful when loading and unloading as the latch bolts from the end gate protrude out a bit. We will be trailering to Spyderfest again this year as well as many, many other Spyder owners do.

Why not ride it to Spyderfest? It's only 536 miles from Janesville, an easy one day ride.

Careful - the crowds will start throwing rotten tomatoes at you.

I'm 45 and the longest ride that I have done is 420 miles in a day - and getting off of the Spyder after that was like trying to get my sea legs back to solid ground. 536 miles in one day sounds like a challenge to me, especially since I am not use to it. And its not just people with Spyders - look at how many people trailer their 2 wheel bike to other events.

I hope everyone has fun at Spyderfest this year.

Perfect fit !!!! :2thumbs:

For me 536 miles would be a d*** long day, especially since I have trouble getting on the road before 10 or 11 AM! :opps: Did 510 on my Goldwing once. Got to the hotel at 10 PM, but would have been an hour sooner if I hadn't passed up the gas exits and run out of gas!:banghead: I'll try to not do it ever again!

I'll make up for kpspyder! I plan to ride somewhere around 1600 miles from Idaho to SF!!!! :):)

It would be great if we could just hop on the :spyder2: and burn up three gas tanks in one day like some of us did before.

I am also at the point where 80 to 100 miles (some days 50 miles) and I must stop, get off the :ani29: and re-position to work out the stiffness in my joints. I even carry an extra sheepskin/gel pad and an Airhawk, to play with the "configuration" of the day as needed.

It is a ----- to have joint or pain issues. I say "good for you" for those who want to attend a far away gathering and are willing to make the extra effort to trailer their ride so that they can attend.

A few years back I could have given any of you a run for your money when it came to stamina and long bike rides. Today, not so much. :roflblack::roflblack:

Totally :agree:
back in da day mileage was a game, today it's a serious game

I would highly recommend the 7 foot wide. You will not like the 6 foot for securing and tie down. Very hard to get to everything or get around in the trailer with the Spyder in it.

I be 82 and over 400 miles is a bit far. But I do it quite often. So for you youngsters A tad over 5 should not be a problem.:yes:

I have trailered with my 6 X 10 on a few occasions. The rest of the family wanted to go with and I just couldn't put them all on the Spyder. Mine is only partially enclosed but the fit was not a problem for my RT.

Yea, we cannot ride that far in one day either. BUT, we are riding from Houston to Spyderfest this year. Our first bike trip of this length. We are taking 3 days each way. We are on vacation dammit. Take time to stop and smell the roses. Have some nice stops planned enroute and are making a 12 day trip out of it. As we get better at this, I am sure our comfort level for longer daily miles will go up.

When we went to Durango last year, we trailered the two bikes up. Just a lot of nothing tween here and there. Besides, the truck pulling the trailer with 2 spyders loaded uses less fuel than riding the two bikes. And we have a truck when we get there.

There is no right or wrong, its about having fun. See everyone in Springfield. Pray for great weather.

I have a 6 1/2'x 10' open trailer.Works great. Plenty of room all around. I also removed the tailgate ramp and purchased 3 heavy duty 6' ramps. Tom :spyder:

Just wondering how you anchor your spyder down. Do you use a four point attachment? Do you run the straps through the wheels, if so does it scuff the wheels? I just bought an open trailer and I figured someone has it all down pat. Pics would be nice if someone has some. Thanks in advance.

2" ratchet straps through the wheels. I do place a shop towel between the wheel and strap. Have never hurt a wheel doing this.
