• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trailering a Spyder RT

Hi All, need a bit of advice from those who have placed a Spyder RT in a trailer. What size trailer do you use to trailer the RT? I am considering trailering my 2011 down to Central Florida Power Sports when my 2014 is ready to be picked up.

Thanks in advance.

AC,
I use a 6x12 dovetail with a drop gate. Works great and I have trailered the RT to FL before using this rig. I also used it to pick up the Wing in Nebraska. Works well.

I have the Ultimate Trailer. Easy to load/unload, tows well, and good job of protecting the RT-S.

I use an R&R 7'x12' V-nose. The key is the clear width of the door opening/ramp. A 7' trailer does not have a seven foot opening. Masure to be sure...and allow a few inches for clearance if you can. Cable-tensioned ramps are usually the narrowest at the point the cables attach to the ramp. I use split, hollow pool noodles as cable bumpers. They also make the cables more visible, so I don't run into them when walking.

Drop tail

After looking at many, Suggested on this forum, we went with the Droptail-2up. It is solid, well built, and pulls like a dream. Best part is it folds and stores against garage wall. Not enclosed, but can't have everything.

What is the make of the trailer? :f_spider: Tom :trike:

I have used a 6x12 enclosed U-Haul before, but it is extremely tight and you have to be ultra careful when loading and unloading. The door opening is only about 2 inches wider than the wheel width of the Spyder, so it takes lots of guiding from a couple of people to get in in and out. You also need your own ramps as none are provided with the trailer. Works OK, but can be a hassle...

We have the Ultimate Trailer. Works great. Loads easy as you drive right on and off. It is a smaller trailer so it is easy to tow and isn't as cumbersome as some trailers I have seen. We have trailered our 2013 RT-S and everything was great. Will be trailering our 2013 RT-S to trade in and pick up our new 2014 RT-S in a couple of weeks! :dg1:

Ultimate Trailer

I'm curious if you don't mind sharing. What is the cost of the ultimate trailer?

Here is their web address http://www.the-ultimate-trailers.com They are a Spyder Lovers sponsor and have an ad on this forum. I understand they now have a plan for trade-ins for previous owners and they may have some used ones available. Not sure of the cost of a new one, maybe around $5000. They are great trailers. I towed my RTS about 3000 miles in September with no problems. It is so easy and convenient.

Thanks Bob, I was looking at that size to use from u-haul.

Also, thanks to everyone else for all the good info and suggestions

The U-Haul 6' trailer does not have a wide enough rear entrance for the Spyder. Measure before you rent.
