I need to get a trailer for my spyder, (enclosed) what do you have? What size? Where can I get one reasonable? I need the type that you roll the spyder in so I can tow with my truck

I'm leaning towards Matrix but looked into Alumna, Featherlite, Bushtec and others. Remember non- Can Am trailer may effect warranty. The Matrix has two styles. One larger for $100 more and plenty of options for each.

I actually think the OP might be talking about a trailer on which he can haul his Spyder and not one that you tow behind your Spyder.

There are lots and lots of choices, depending on what you might want to do besides just tow the Spyder, and depending on your preferences and your tow vehicle capacity. The most important thing is to have enough clear width to load the Spyder. It takes 62" plus whatever clearance you want to load an RT. This needs to be between the ramp cables for most trailers. Be sure to measure. I would not go less than 66". Most trailers' advertised widths are at the backing plates, not the inside or door widths, so a six foot wide unit probably won't do. Most owners choose what is called a 7 foot wide trailer. I prefer towing a trailer/cargo weight that is not too close to the towing capacity of the tow vehicle, so if your vehicle towing capacity is 3500 pounds, you might want a lighter trailer...single axle, all-aluminum construction. I have an R&R 7x12 V-nose deluxe (tall). Visit some trailer sellers near you and compare some choices. I'm sure you can find something suitable.

Now that Tim and Anamarie have two spyders, I believe their drive-on trailer
is for sale. You might check with them.

After market products...can not void warranties.....moss- magneson act....

You are wrong my friend. Due to VSS on bike/trike and trailer. Sensors in 622 trailer wheel spin provide VSS input to your Spyder for turnover same as the Spyder itself. This safety feature is bypassed with non BRP trailers. Call BRP, read owners manual and warranty.

If you are out of warranty then it is a moot point depending on what your personal level of safety is. A trailer turnover for any reason would very much compromise your own safety.

:lecturef_smilie: There are no sensors in the RT-622 trailer or the trailer module. There are no changes made to the Spyder systems unless you have an SE and set it to trailer mode. The Spyder is perfectly safe when towing a safe trailer that is within the Spyder towing capacity. BRP cannot void a warranty merely due to using aftermarket equipment in the US, under the provisions of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. They can, however, refuse to cover warranty issues caused by or aggravatred by aftermarket equipment or modifications.

Thank You.

you state: "roll the spyder in"... which i'm taking to mean, you want a trailer to put your Spyder ON, rather than a trailer that you pull behind your Spyder... am i correct or not?

Opps misread Thread. Good luck plenty of them out there.

Trailer works great

I have a 7' by 10' utility trailer with rear ramp. I have plenty of room to work with both sides and length. I bought my trailer from a dealer in Fortworth Texas and paid about 1150.00. Bought it after I went to the dealer to pick up my Spyder RT while waiting on final prep. Works great, and easy straps front and rear tires to the rails. No problems.

yes! Thank u!

Scorpin, find a decent used 'boat trailer' and make your own conversion.... i found a 16ft. boat trailer, stripped all the 'boat stuff' off and preceeded to convert said trailer to my needs for transporting my SPYD3R.... i paid $100 for the trailer, $50 to the remote-controled power wrench @ HARBOR FREIGHT, and some wheel stops, and $24 for a gallon of Rustoleum paint, expanded metal cost me $60 @ my local scrap metal yard... new Mag Wheels (not shown in picture) with new 13 in. tires for $180... about 40 hrs. of my labors i converted it to this:

although not 'inclosed' as per your wishes... this trailer has served me well and cost me less than $500 to build... and don't let any1 tell u that towing it in the 'REVERSE' postion is detremental to your ride... i've towed this for 12 hrs. at 70 mph average with the wind-shield in place, with ZERO negative affects..... if you need additional information, please PM me and i'll do what i can to help walk you thru your DIY project should u decide to do 1 on your own....

It appears that you have the standard windshield on an RS. These have been towed backwards successfully with the stock windshield, although maybe not in every case. It is when you fit a large touring windshield to the RS, or tow an RT backwards that problems arise most often. Too many cases of broken windshields to ignore.

Well my trailer has them and they are standard. Check inside your wheels if you have the 622 trailer.

In regards to the RT-622 trailer: can-ambrp.comroadstercomunitiespyder blogscroll down to Ultimate can-am spyder travel companion: The RT-622 Trailer--page two of four (August 2013) PerformanceThe RT-622 trailer doesn't affect the signature handling and performance of the roadster. An independant suspension smoothes the ride on rough pavement. The trailer requires the Hitch Assembly and Control Module. This Hitch Assembly includes a plug-in Module that adds a trailer mode to our VSS vehicle stability system. This assures you get the same peace of mind riding with the trailer as you do without it.www.mcnews December 2009page 27STORAGE CAPACITY"designed specifically for the Spyder RT and which will not void the RT's warranty"."The SE transmission even features a "trailer mode" that recalibrates the shift points when towing the trailer"I forgot to mention the recalibration of the shift mode. Needs higher RPM to shift up and downshifts at a higher RPM to help in slowing. This is due to the extra weight of towing the trailer and is very helpful. If non of the above is important to you then by all means buy another brand of trailer. Did I mention How great the RT-622 trailer design looks with the RT?Jack

Being that the trailer connection harness is now the de-facto standard four wires, it is pretty near impossible to transmit any other information from any wheel sensors to the Spyder ECU don't ya' think?

Back to the topic at hand... I bought a 7x12 single axle enclosed trailer. I paid $2500 brand new.. It is a Carry On. I love it and the Spyder fits in great!

I'm not going to get in a pissing contest with you. As quoted above, the SE is the only one with trailer mode (and that is manually selected by the rider). Think of it as you wish. It is not as smart as you think it is, however. The advertising about the module adding the trailer mode has not proven to be accurate. Our Spyders handle the trailers well with or without the module, and with or without the RT-622 as the trailer of choice. Telling people that the trailer has features it does not, and saying that using something else will void their warranties is not acceptable to me. It is perfectly alright for you to say that is your choice and you feel it is best, but I don't feel you should go beyond what is accurate and true. JMHO End of discussion.
Just read the information I provided by BRP and MC News and make up your own mind. I do not have time for 19,000 plus posts such as yours nor do I set myself up as an authority. I did not make this up nor is it my opinion but did use all the information available before selecting a trailer.Maybe you should take this up with BRP and Motorcycle News and tell THEM their published information is incorrect not me. I did not write it.
