• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

TRAILER HITCHES & LOADING RAMPS

I have been told by my friendly local dealer that a hitch for my RT would cost a measly $860. think If will pass.
Anyone have any other ideas? It looks like Bushtec only makes them for the RS. Also does anyone have suggestions for a loading ramp that fits?
Relocating to Fla. and need to get her down there somehow. Riding it would be ok, but inconvenient right now. Thanks for any input.

Hitch

On ebay there is a place that sells the hitch for a little under 300.00, and have one that fits both the RS and RT. They don't sell (when I bought it) the wire harness, but I would think you could get that separate. I have a RS, and did not need the wire harness.

That has to be the price installed (at a huge labor profit). The MSRP is about $500 for the hitch and harness. There are dealers that will discount this, and there are deals on eBay, too. Yes, there are also cheaper hitches available, but the plug-n-play wiring harness and the quick-connect means of slipping the hitch on and off the Spyder, as well as the built-in rubber isolators/shock absorbers, make the BRP hitch a decent value, IMO. If you can do the couple of hours of installation yourself, you can get by for far less than $860. Was your dealer wearing his mask and gun when he quoted that price? :yikes:

My hitch installed was right around $500. After the purchase I searched the net and found a couple that were cheaper but almost as ugly.

Toys....where does the easy removal come from ?? I have to find someplace to buy an extra long allen wrench that will reach thru the spokes to loosen mine.

The BRP hitch just slips off the swingarm. Remove the cotter key in the castelated nut on the long bolt that goes through the axle, remove the nut, the carefully turn and push/pull the retaining pin out of the axle to the left side of the Spyder. The hitch slides off toward the back. If the hitch was not lubricated before being installed, it may take some serious effort the first time. Prying it out slightly to loosen the grip can help. If all else fails, attach it to something substantial and ride the Spyder in the opposite dirstion, or attach it to the truck trailer hitch, set the Spyder parking brake, and pull the truck forward. If it was sprayed with silicone, it should slide right off. Don't dismantle the hitch using the allen bolts!
