Trailer closed with handle out

Ok mechaincal Spyder lover gurus:

Prepping to leave for the Redwoods event
Have Colorado Sport Trailer (made by Champion sidecars)...
couldnt find key...took handle out to Ace to get key made.."cant help ya"..called factory..they shipped new key and handle right out

in the meantime.....the lid closed and LATCHED!! looking for ideas on how to get it open...trailer was partially packed for the trip...

I have attached a pic of the latch..think street rod door latch lying sideways...handle hole is at the top right of the latch..the release it at the left end of the latch

If you are not able to open with a slim jim, knife or other device, I would suggest drilling the rivets out ,then replace with new rivets and washers or bolt & nut.

no rivets...all inside

BUT success...went thru the license plate light..one finger...could just feel the release tab and....VOILA!! Open Sesame!

Packing and ready to go to the Redwoods YAY!
