• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am trading my Can Am Ryker in for a Spyder. Which model, year, and accessories do you recommend? I am going to be using this to go to Utah/South Dakota from WA to visit my sons.

A lot of choices. If buying used the F3 and F3S were introduced in 2015. Beginning in 2016 or 2017 the F3T and Ltd were introduced. Look at all models and years, test ride if you can and then decide. I put 77,000 miles on my ‘15 F3S and then sold it. I then bought a 2020 F3 Ltd with less than 10,000 miles. Both are great machines. As for accessories, it depends on what you want and are willing to spend. If you want your F3 equipped for touring the F3 and F3S do not come with luggage. You will have to add aftermarket. If you want built in luggage then the T would be the choice and the Ltd also adds a trunk. Happy shopping!
 
Umm any & all! :popcorn: nojoke . Coming from the Ryker to a full sized Spyder, you're gonna have available options that the Ryker just didn’t have. So determine your ryding preferences & comfort. Basic stock differences (off the top of my head): windshield, transmission, seat, pegs/floorboards, radio, trunk, saddle bags, heated grips, trailer hitch, 12VDC cig plug, USB connection, glove box.... Probably more & that’s not even into aftermarket accessories/lighting. Fool around & explore the build page.

If riding interstates or major highways, the F3 base does not come standard with cruise control, but can be added. I do some touring with my F3 base, and added Shad saddlebags and a rear rack for luggage.
 
I have a 2023 F3 LTD Special Series in Mineral Blue.

The F3 LTD Special Series comes with the following things:

Comfort Seat, Cruise Control, Top Case with luggage rack, Short Reach handlebars, 2 Halogen Head lights( 55/60W), 2 Fog lights, 7.8 inch wide screen + integrated BRP Connect, front fenders with integrated LED lights, Calibrated for towing a Can Am trailer, Glove box with USB port (for cell phone), integrated hard-side luggage, Top case with integrated passenger back rest, Driver/passenger heated hand grips, Audio Control Keypad, Auxiliary lights, the back top case has a place for a USB port. The back top case is removable.

Also, the F3 has a UFit system.

It is road trip ready!

I would test drive an F3 models to see which one fits your needs.

You sit lower than on an RT. You are more relaxed on a F3, and you are more stretched out.

As for accessories, I would get: a sway bar; different tires; luggage bags (for inside the side bags); & floorboards.

Everybody is talking about the F3. I have an older RT and love it. I have sat on an F3 and felt cramped so I like the RT better. I would recommend that you do a lot of sitting and test riding when possible the different models. One size does not fit all. Good luck in your quest and have fun.

We looked at used trikes and felt a 2020+ RT fit our needs best. The selection of used trikes was pretty slim so we opt'ed for a new trike. Our trike is a new 2022 model. We have had it since late July '23 and have put 2500 miles on it. So far we have added a handlebar riser, a GPS mount and wiring, and a wider brake pedal. Santa dropped off a front fender upgrade for the OEM lights and reflectorized tape. These will be installed in January. We don't see that it needs anything else right now. Although Madame did say old school hotrod pinstirpping would be nice.
 
We offer suggestions, but in the end it is YOU that has to be happy with the purchase. These machines aren't cheap so go out and do some research. Sit on and ride if possible the F3 and the RT. I have a 2015 RT that has been a great machine and I have no intention of sending it down the road. I did a lengthy test on an F3 and did not like it at all and I'm glad I didn't impulse buy it without the testing.
 

I also noted that at the beginning of this exchange everyone was talking about the various different models of the F3 but nothing abut the RT. I would suggest that so long as you are in the model range that provided the 1330 triple as the standard engine then the first hurdle is passed although some still prefer the V twin engines. I believe the triple is the logical choice. Past that then the question is do you prefer to ride with your feet in front of you or directly beneath you. The F3 models have a Harley like riding position with your feet stretched out in front of you and that makes riding straight up more difficult. The RT models have your feet directly under your body more like a sport bike position making riding with a straight back more doable. The F3 provides a seating position where you feel more in the bike than on it. Personally, I came from a sport touring bike tradition and could not adjust to the feet forward position of the F3 and ended up trading to a new RT in 2022. My choice but not necessarily yours. You need to ride both and see which you prefer. The Cruise control issue is also not to be ignored, especially if you intend to ride long distances.
 
Just scrolling through this thread...I test rode the model you have currently, Deanna...loved it! I currently have a 2018 F3 Limited and the miles are getting up there ...77,000...so thinking of upgrading to the 2023 and just love the mineral blue color. Have you had any issues with it? I'm going to a 2022 Ltd Special from my 2020 Ryker Rally this month. The 2022 I'm getting is left over, just being assembled. With promos and the season on the East Coast it seemed to be a good time to switch. Loved my Ryker, it was an absolute blast to drive solo and sling around corners, but 2-up even with Elka shocks, it gets sketchy at speed. Shop wisely, test drive, then see what you want...

Just traded my Ryker for a new F3-S model in the yellow/green color. Dealer was fair on both trade-in and new bike price. Ordered three-piece luggage and windshield. Will ride when I get it all together.

As the original owner of this Spyder, I totally agree with JKM. Having owned 7 spyders since 2008 including the first one sold to a customer in AK, I have owned GS, RS, RT Limited, RT A&C, (all 998 two cylinder engines, and RT 1330, as well as 2 F3 limteds. My favorite of all was the 2020 F3L. We added over $1K in accesories on both our F3's.
 
On the RT, you sit in a more upright position (your legs are directly in-line with your body).

You also sit higher than you do on F3.
