There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Toy Spyder for children

Has anybody seen a toy ride on Can-Am spyder or childs trike/tricycle (with two wheels at front instead of back)?
Is there a gap in the market for a childs ride on toy with two wheels at front and one at back (pedal or battery operated)?
Would it be good to see a Spyder like sturdy plastic ride on toy for children, using a 6v rechargeable battery with a top speed of 2mph for children 3 years and over?
I look forward to hearing your views on the above with positives and negatives.:chat:

toy spyder

I think this would be a great toy, if the kids like it as we adults do they would never want to be off it. I would probably buy one, would someone need to get BRP permission to build a toy spyder, I think this would also be great advertising for the spyder. Maybe the speed would be a little faster like 5 mph and no computers lol

Thanks for your reply. I have emailed BRP about the idea of a ride on toy Spyder for children, maybe working with them to produce one or if I could have permission to use a similar design to spyder to produce one.
Depending on their response, I will either bin idea or take it forward.

While I do agree that they're far from cheap...

The smile that they bring to a young child's face... is priceless!

This is the other thread:

There seem to be a few different offerings out there, including some that are not quite 'trikes' despite what they are called! That's not to say there isn't room for another (possibly cheaper?) version out there. Altho my Grandkids don't seem interested in a 'toy' Spyder, they only want to ride mine!! Even a chance to ride their own 2 wheel 'mini-bike' doesn't hold any attraction if there's a ride on the back of Grandad's Spyder on offer!! :D

That is really cool. My granddaughter just got a ride on mustang to match my roush, but this spider one would have been better .

Response from BRP

Hi Bfromla,
BRP sent a response today in reference to toy ride on spyder. I have copied response which is below. It was good that BRP looked into it and I thank them for this.

Good afternoon Darren,

Your email below was sent to me through BRP contacts.
I have been closely involved in supporting BRP’s licensing program as a BRP staff
or as an external licensing agent for over 10 years now.

I think your idea to develop a ride-on version of the Spyder is a very good idea.
In fact, I had worked on a similar project in 2011-2012, when BRP’s licensing activities were
much broader than today.

Unfortunately, over the years we have seen that success in licensing also comes through
success with retailers, who constantly demand lower price points. I know from experience that
it can be a real challenge to work with licensees to develop products that are true to the spirit of our brands and to our
positioning as an innovation leader, yet which are sufficiently affordable to enjoy retail
success in their category. And poorly executed licensing products can also damage brands more than they
can help them…

Due to these reasons and other factors, BRP decided to stop 95% of its licensing activities in the fall of 2012.
Since then, only 2 licenses have been kept in activity, and no new license has been signed.

So at the moment I have no mandate from BRP to relaunch any new license.
I will keep your coordinates for future reference in case BRP reviews its position, but I have no indication
that this will change in the short to mid-term.

Thank you again for reaching out to us, and for your passion for BRP products.

Best regards,

Karl

I would so love to find a miniature Spyder kid car such as those referenced in this thread, however none of the links above provide any information or details on acquiring one.

Anyone know of anything currently available out there?

I'm unable to find anything. :sour:

PLEASE HELP if possible.

The toy Spyder was discontinued sometime last year.
Probably due to licensing.

You can find them on Ebay used.
