• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OK, i'm super frustrated right now..... :banghead:
MAP QUEST has introduced a new version that in one word: SUX.... :yikes:
their old Classic version no longer works, and i've DELETED everything MAP QUEST on my computers....
does any one have a GOOD, RELIABLE map website where i can plan my various routes on...? one that will also include: motels, gas stations, restaurants, etc....
MAP QUEST really screwed-up by going to their NEW and IMPROVED (?) version.... :gaah:
HELP...! ! ! :cus:

We use AAA. Is is a free site and works quite well. You can have the program highlight the location of all gas stations along your route, for example. Or do the same for lodging and food.

Hi SPYD3R,

Re: OK, i'm super frustrated right now.....

Disclaimer: I am not a very good computer guy.

I saw the 'update' about MapQuest and thought, 'Oh, s***.'

A few weeks later I noticed something about being able to continue to use the earlier version => Click Here

So I did & I still have it on both of my computers.

Take a look around their website & see if you can find this.

Best of luck,

Jerry Baumchen

PS) Every time I see something about new/updated/super great, I shudder. It might be really great for my kids & grandkids but not for me. Now where's my d*** mouse?

Dan,
Have you taken a look at Rand McNally's Tripmaker? :dontknow:
I've used that in the past, and was usually pretty satisfied with the results.
Happy Hunting!

THX

THX EVERYONE.....
i'm going to try AAA, Harley & Rand Mc.... the MAP QUEST CLASSIC only give me a sterile page... words only, no map...
maps.google.com doesn't allow me (i don't know if others gets it) the option for restaurants, gas, etc....
and 'yes' Jerry, i'm with you, my 12 yr old grand-daughter is 99.9% better at computers than i.... like you said "oh S***"...
thx again all... very helpful again....

Furkot

Furkot.com online service, great tool, export to gpx for import to Garmin, POI cross reference with Motorcycleroads.com and BestBiking Roads.com, Scenic Byways. Follow the tutorial. Can work on your phone but I do my routing at a desktop. Also free is good.

RoadRunners Magazine has GPS format files for trip planning. These are by area all around the USA, maybe Canada, not sure about that one.
